Yes, you have to pay for that USD$404 for everyone whom on the application.. for example if you are family of 4, you, husband and 2 kids, then you need to pay USD$1616. Adult and children are the same price.
after that as you know that your sponsor (well, let's say, she is your mother). that she is retired.
then you need to be the sponsor of yourself, or if she could find someone to be co-sponsor. Does she have any investment like house or something like that?
If she has nothing. the best way if yourself.
Depends on how big your family is.. prepare 5 times of the amount of the support. Usually, for a family of 4, just need to prepare USD$150,000.. should be good enough!!
you gonna wait for the response from immigration office.
Well, a friendly reminder, for co-sponsorship, usually Immigration officer will give you a little bit hard time. as they do afraid that you are going to apply for the govenment benefit when you landed. so they do fail cases!

我建議你搵個師傅上番幾堂再去考，唔係因為你唔掂，而係有d考車秘訣要師傅先識教，即使你先生教都教唔到嘅。我而家都學緊揸車，我十年前都喺香港攞咗牌，初初都有揸吓，但自己知道自己手車唔得，後來一次意外令我驚咗。六年前嚟到，我老公教我，我初初幾次俾佢鬧到喊，後來叫揸得唔錯，但我因為有咗仔仔，我老公唔俾我再學，一直到今個月終於的起心肝去學，老公幫我搵咗個教咗廿年嘅師傳，有d嘢真係唔講唔知。

好似Stop有2-way同all-way，幾時應該要讓幾時唔讓，師傅唔講我未必知。你話綠燈你Complete Stop係唔啱架，綠燈只要你有Traffic Check，冇人冇車係唔應該Complete Stop，如果佢出聲叫你去，咁多數肥硬。20呎唔夠要轉線冇錯架，因為呢d情況會發生喺freeway同多車嘅地方度，唔可能話完全冇車先轉線，至於10呎唔夠叫停車，我估佢想睇你可唔可以控制到油門同brake啩。

通常借師傅車考會著數d，因為有師傅brake，個考牌官會冇咁驚，當然如果佢要踩brake或者幫你揸呔即係肥硬，但心理上你用師傳車，考牌官個心會定d。

應該係包括銀行存款、物業、投資總值，我以前都係自己擔保自己，事緣係我媽都冇能力擔保我，搵咗我叔做咗一份擔保書，點知因為交表上有d遺漏，拖咗好多個月，到去見領事時份擔保書已經過期（好似係前後一年期），個領事叫我一係再做過一份，一係就自己擔保，我問佢咁要幾多錢，當時係單身女仔HK$350000，單身男仔HK$500000，咁我因為已經帶晒銀行薄，証明我有呢筆錢，咁個領事即時已經批我visa。唔知而家有冇唔同，我辦visa係2004年。

no, after you have submitted everything.. supposed to have 2 paid, one is USD$404 per each person, and there is another paid within USD$100 as well.
Once your sponsor has paid twice, and received the recipt. then, you will have to wait for other Package.. it will mail to you.
Then, body check, police check..
if you have left HK "continue over 6 months", no matter go to China or go overseas for a studies. You need to go back to that Country embassy to get the police check from that country as well.
Like me... I left HK from 1997 to Australia.. so when my husband submit my application.. I need to apply the police check in Australia.. as I lived in Australia over 6 months in a roll. (that is almost 7 years).
after all that.. then, they will ask you to prepare all documents on your hand. and you can make appointment for interview..
that is long way to go from your spot this moment, so please be patience! :)

Nillie_Mami, do you have any idea on how long do I need to wait for the queue till the interview? I have waited over 10 years for the processing commence. As I would like to plan when my child will start studing in the States.

If I sponsor by myself, it is right to complete the form I-864W . And what is "40 eligible quarters under the Social Security Act (SSA)", I can't find any more information from the web.

for that 40 eligible quater.. lol!
that is a long way to go..
it means when you arrived in US, you starts to work, each quater mean 3 months.. 40 quaters mean continue 10 years.
if you work in US and pay tax for 10 years (if you sick for a long time, or a stay home mom, and never work or you got fire for 2 years and get back to work again--- all these do not count as continue work 10 years). you will eligible to receive SSA when you retired. that is kind of pension or retirement money you can get..
however, don't depend on it. by the time you get there, Social Security will be bankrupt... hahah
If you look for better protection, once you found a secure job, join 401k, 403b, pension from your job. that will be much better.
these..... we will talk about it when you landed and find a job!! ok?

it usually take 4weeks - 9 months..
as you did not sumbit your payment yet.. if you are sure that you are coming, sumbit the payment immediately, so you will have a date for them to file for you.
