eggegg wrote 2: "a egg sandwich," 老師話對. 仲特登解 why 係 A, 唔係 AN wor. 我唔係好 buy 個解釋, but 1) 隻佬話 no confuse eggegg 住; 2) eggegg 信老師多過我; 3) 我可能 out 左, You and I 改用 You and Me
4) eng. 特別多 exceptions, e.g. IN the tree vs. ON the tree 咁多灰色地帶; e.g. A horse, A house but AN hour lor.
一向 grammar book teaches 'AN egg sandwich' because of a, e, i, o, u. = an old man vs. a man, an ice-cream vs. a cold ice-cream, etc.
而老師既解釋: 句子 "I have ____ egg sandwich." meaning/focus 是 sandwich, egg = adjective 可有可無 wor = "I have A sandwich."
我覺得意思/purpose correct, but grammar incorrect lor.
老師既解釋如 apply 以下:
1. One (of them) is a girl = of them 係 adj. 可有可無, 'One' 咪對 'is' lor = meaning and grammar both correct
2. Mary (, the beloved daughter of Tom and Jane,) is lovely. = (....) 係 adj. 可有可無, 'Mary ' 咪對 'is' lor = meaning and grammar both correct
我會覺得 this 解釋 is 應用錯誤 lor.
If teacher 走眼改錯, ok lor cos 一右手難敵 200份 papers, but 佢要特登解釋, 我先奇 ?-( ?-( OR I am really out ?-(

I think the teacher's explanation is not correct otherwise "an old man" will become "a old man" la!
FYI, I've consulted my boys' private English tutor on this last night and he agreed with me! But I'm not suggesting the tutor is the authority on English grammar!
