shanjun - 18.7 degree is really HOT in Calgary, people will definitely wear shorts, tees & sandals. This morning evern worse -29 temp with windchill .

tazmanic - last time I was not scared of the accident, but I was angry at the driver behind me because I had no car to use, esp you need to take the kids to school, activities, etc. Driving is part of life in Canada, esp Calgary, the public transport isn't that convenient, take hours to go from one place to another. Our community have no bus to C-train, only down to Sandstone to take the No.3 bus, and I think how come their public transport system is not that well organized as HK esp the part for transferring from 1 bus to another.

just let you to know we will have around 16-17C tomorrow - in Nov time... if we have sunshine, then might be able to wear tees and sandals..
got jealous now...

it is really dangerous to drive on the icy road, we had that experience when we were exiting the highway to city thru' the ramp.. we "slipped' and lucky my "lo" just turn the wheel and bump onto the rail guard... bumper go knock off... but we were o.k.. We had that on the April fool's day.. what a big joke... :-(

doggie - yes, what happened to the west this yr, the normal temp for this time should be around zero, and from news we saw people on the east going to park, enjoying the weather like summer, really jealous. My husband came home @715pm yesterday, he said he start driving @5, don't know if it's the same tonight. Last time when I was hit, the back bumper was broken, the police told me to drove it home by myself, I was like those newly weds driving a car with lots of empty coke cans dragging behind the car.

Calgary (when I lived there), the weather is much better. Most of time, we have chinook in the winter and no need to wear the down jacket... which is totally different from Edmonton or Red Deer (I spent some times there, too)!

agree that it is hard to live without a car in canada. i have my car broken down last year, before making decision for a new one, i have no car for nearly 3 wks.

a less than 10 min driving distance took me nearly 1 hr 30 minutes by bus.

HI Calgary,
Weather forecast that the cold weather is moving to the east and this THU we willl have rain to wash up some snow. Hope I can drive my car again as it is so much headache to drop my daughter by bus!

By the way, if without my daughter I can survive without a car. We came here for 3years and we just bought the car early this year. Having a car is great but just too much to maintain. We live along with the skytrain and going to downtown is only 20mins by skytrain and it is even faster than driving!

Yesterday Calgary broke a 110yrs record, the morning temp yesterday was -30.1, w/ windchill feel like -40, but today now is -12, will climb to -2 tomorrow

Yes, I did not drive until my son attend 3yrs old preschool, I took the bus to work before he was born in the frigid temp, but now, when you are going out w/ the 2 monsters, you better put them in the car, or else they will be fooling around in the street, messing everything or going to different directions.

HI Calgary,

Yes, I think it also broke the recent record of heavy snow in Vancouver. But today we have a good day! The temperature is around 3C and I can see all snow is melting. I guess the cold weather is moving east...hehehe..it is Toronto's turn to have the snow and we want our sunshine back!
Weather forecast said no more snow and if the weather remains, I think the road should clear up soon.

xother - you are online now, 9pm in Calgary, my son just went to bed. Today we have chinook, with very strong west wind 50km/hr, this morning when I drove my son to school at 730am, the snow were flying everywhere w/ vv sound in the dark. Today we manage to -3, but will drop to -10 again tomorrow, hopefully Sunday will have +1. The street are all slushy, quite difficult to drive on the bumpy road with the melted snow but frozen again.

You have 1 kid, right, I have 2, the boy in G.5, girl in G1. busy busy everyday serving the 2 monsters. Just finished doing homework w/ my son, so always fight for using the computer.

I heard Toronto will start snowing tomorrow... oh well... it's our turn, but we enjoyed a warmness already.

My sister ended up went home with baby on Tuesday, -30 C.

Hi Calgary,
I have one daughter and she just turn 4. I am expecting my second one and due next JUN.

Although my daughter is 4, she also fight to use the computer as she likes to play on Treehouse web site which I introduce her before. Lucky she is still very young and we have a lab top which can also access to internet.

Our weather is completely calm and around 3C. I dont have any freezing feel. No wind and every where is melting. Hope the small road can clean up soon as I still not yet dare to drive. Tomorrow I think we need to go as I need to send my daughter to Chinese class and after that, I have an appointment with SFU( university) to do a survery. I dont rememeber what is it as I sign up for 2 survery. Each visit is about 2 hrs and I will get $25 back and a copy of the survery, plus a toy for my daughter.

Nice to talk to you again, & congrats on your 2nd child, is it a boy or girl, how is litter sister reacting. My son was really jealous when my girl was born, he said he wants a brother, so they always fight now.

Talking abour survey, I was lucky that Govt of Canada picked my girl, the survey is about how kids grow in Canada, starting from the date she was born, till she turns 18. I have an interview last month about her 6yrs old, the coming one will be when she turns 8. But no money, once the interviewer came to our house to give her some test, when she was 4.

Hi Calgary,
Thanks. I am just on my 11week and havent really gone for the ultrasound yet.
When I first told my daughter about the new coming, the first thing is the baby will break all toys and with yucky diapers! Lucky she is older and understand what is a baby. I am not sure if she will jealous later on but so far so good. She understand my tummy has baby, daddy's tummy has nothing and her tummy has pizza!
She said she loves to have a brother while my husband want to have another daughter as he said too much headache to deal with boys. For me, I dont care as long as it is healthy.

Regarding on the survery, will you get a copy of it? Or is it a TV documentary? I join the survey as I can see how is other kids doing from the report and compare to my daughter's behaviour.

xother, seems you're so interesting about my privacy, or maybe, am as a man, not able to talk freely like women, if you're not thinking divorce is a crime, then i am not a criminal; also, as an old man, wanted to stay in MY OWN PLACE(country), a real one, in this case, why i keep the canadian citizenship for, isn't it?

i have been in hk about 7 to 8 years.

Why divorce is a crime? I always think marriage is a miracle as that brings 2 people together with intimacy, but if you cannot work it out, then you just let it go.
You may not understand women very well. My hubsand always say all women like gossip and this is my character. Yes, I do interested about your story as I dont know why you give up Canada after struggle for so long. Divorce is not the end of world. You still have your friends and 2 daughters. Why you need to escape from there? Especially when you are being old, it is better to stay in Canada, I believe, as you can get all the benefit and clean environment. What you get from HK govt?
