Pentax DL is an aging model but its $3,9xx price is really attractive. The kit lens (18-55) that comes with this camera is quite good in image, built quality and appearance.
Pentax's prime lenses are very good quality and compact (eg. I can carry a 70mm/f2.4 prime in the front pocket of my jean with comfort 
). Pentax is rather weak in their zoom lens line-up.
Mind you that one thing about the DL is that its focusing speed isn't anything great. You may run into difficulty if you take pictures on fast-moving kids
In short, if you like and have no problem with prime lenses then Pentax is a pretty good choice. However, if you're going to rely on zoom lenses then forgive it.
P.S. just realized my K10D is almost at the weight as D200 (~800g), which is quite paintful if I have to carry it (with A09 attached) in my backpack for the whole day !!!
