'lap mui' oil can buy from 藥房, very cheap $4-5 each . I usaually use cotton ball to put on the affected area or the place itchy.
In these 2 weeks, I used 'sap chan ching', 'lap mui' oil, QV cream and vaseline. Sometimes I put steriod on place more serious. My son's ezcema got 90% improvement even not many outbreak in these humid weather.
Dear tpy and all mamis,
I took hoyin to see a specialist at the hospital today (follow up appointment).
The specialist did a repeat skin test on Hoyin as he is older and has tried most of the things.
Hoyin was not allergic to anything but cow's milk (not allergic to this last time).
The doctor said that he was 3-4mm (is it serious or moderate or mild?)
He recommends me to change hoyin to soy formula when he is 1.
Hoyin has been sick with a cold for more than a week and he is coughing and breathing heavily.
The doctor said that hoyin has very sensitive airway.
If we dont try to avoid the things that he is allergic to, he might develop ashma when he is 2 to 3.
I dont know what to do as he is quite OK now but still has eczema from time to time.
Please share your thoughts about it with me!!!
My 99 and hubby dont want me to change as they think it will be very troublesome to avoid all dairy products (hoyin is having cheese, yogurt, custard...).
Thanks in advance!!!
Oh! I never heard that high protein may cause eczema (but actually I don't know about eczema before). That may be the reason, because I ate a lot of high protein food during pregnancy --> e.g. 1 spoon of birdnest as from the 4th month, 2 glasses of milk & eggs always. I just assume taking that will make my baby's skin better & high protein can benefit his growth........ My God!
Hi coolkathy,
My son is already 19 months old & he will take off the gloves himself. Just like yesterday, he took off the gloves everytime I tried to put on; & then laughed a lot, thinking that I'm playing with him. Finally, can only put on after he sleep, so I need to "look at" him until he fell asleep.
Hi tpy,
Congratulation that your son's situation improve when growing up. It's really a bit difficult for me to keep the eyes on my son from scratching & always keep his skin nourish because I have to go to work that only night time is with him. You know maid can't do exactly what we expect (sometimes even we can't). Therefore, I always found my son's skin with wounds when I'm back home.
Hi hoyinma,
Do you really think cow milk make hoyin's eczema worse? Since you said he has eczema from time to time which is normal to most babies having eczema that may not be due to cow milk. As many mamis said skin test results may change from time to time. In my case, my son changed to Nestle NAN HA as from around 4 months-old as recommended by doctor after confirming that he got eczema. But the situation not improve much (of course, may be he is not allergic to cow milk). I think if is due to cow milk, his skin will become red & itchy every time taking the milk, just like my son taking beef. If that's not the case for your son, may be is due to other factors. What do you think?
Regarding high protein intake during pregnancy will cause BB eczema, I really believe so. Because I did have a lot of bird's nest, 2-3 glasses of milk, 2-3 eggs per day in the last few of months of my pregnancy and my BB does get eczema now. However, my doctor did tell me to have more meat, high protein food in my last few months of pregnancy.
If it's really the high protein intake during pregnancy that causes eczema, can something be done to cure it?
Also, for milk allergy, my mom said Chinese people used to call ezcema "milk sin" because it's due to the dairy consumption. However, most paedic don't recommend to change cow milk to soya formula.
I think I might try to let my BB having soya formula to see if there is any improvement.
