Welcome to join the 2004年11月母乳媽媽. We can share and talk more here!! WTO advised that it is better to give the baby solid food when they are 6 months old. You have to give bb a little bit at the first stage. I am going to listen a talk in 健康院 about how to feed baby in solid food. Maybe you can go and check for it.

How to plug the baby's ears ah???

Use cotton wool.. just make sure it's big enough so that it doesn't disappear inside your baby's ears..

Yeah, I know about the 6 months thing.. but I think my milk alone is not enough for my baby now :cry: . She seems to want to eat ALL the time!! Also she tries to grab what we eat, is almost having her bottom teeth (should come out in the next day or two..) and she makes these chewing sounds, which I am told are all signs of being ready for solid food.

I would really go to a health centre to listen to their seminars on these things but I don't live in Hong Kong, so I learn everything I know via the Internet and talking with ladies more knowledgeable than me!

Ah well... I will just try and see how it goes.

Carmen,
So when u will take the seminar about solid food? These two days Megan's nanny is sick so I have to stay at home to take care of her. I have stored milk in the fridge but she doesn't drink it when I am at home. I think I need to throw them away. :-(

Oh no!!! I forgot to put my ice milk in the fridge yesterday night. My bb should drink formula today during my work. :cry: :-|

Megan 係唔係見到你所以唔肯用樽? 我一直唔敢用樽餵呈芝飲奶(只會用樽餵水)，由呈芝Daddy 用樽餵奶，怕佢會混淆。你係屋企可以多d埋身餵，我想佢會好開心，可以多d時間見到媽咪! Megan's 祖母好d未? 今日天氣突然趺好多，好凍!

我上個禮拜去健康院聽左講座，姑娘話先俾糊仔BB食，因為容易吞，等佢學好吞食物再俾粥仔，果蓉等。先俾BB食一餐糊仔，初時可能食一兩匙，佢唔夠飽就要俾佢飲奶，之後先慢慢加分量。最好日頭俾BB食糊仔，可以觀察佢的反應同埋多d時間消化。

我問姑娘餵人奶的BB食純米糊(要加奶)定奶米糊(只需加水)好，佢話無所謂。但我擔心BB食奶米糊會接觸媽媽奶以外的奶，姑娘話除非BB對奶敏感，否則無問題。
我仍然好疑惑 ?-( ，唔知邊隻牌子好d。不過我見健康院用雀巢試範，唔知係唔係好d?

Regarding introducing solid food... I intend to do so to my baby at around 6 months. However, my in-laws, who looked after my bb when I'm at work, gave a tiny piece of fish to my bb on his day of 5 months old! They said they'd like to celebrate my bb's 5 months' old...

But I'm a bit worried about the immature development of my bb's stomach to digest that piece of fish ... :cry:

I choose to feed on demand 'cos my baby will just take a few sip if he isn't hungry ... but my reflex has been triggered and I'll be sorry to see my precious milk dropping down! :-|

我自從聽左健康院2個月BB的講座後，定期都有去聽，真係好有用，又可以同其他媽咪交流下。我都已經報左6個月的講座。

幾日無見 Joan 上黎，唔知佢同悅晴點呢?

I have registered the 21/4 one. Does it start from 9:30am. I didn't know it is about the development around 6 months thing. I have asked the nurse before and she it said it will cover solid food issue as well. If this is the one, then I will see you, Becky.

Melody, you can also register the Lam Tin 健康院 on 21/4.

I also don't know how to feed the solid food to Nic. So many questions in my mind.

I will go to the 4/17 ShanTin meeting? Are you both free to go?? Maybe this is a good chance for me to check with other mama.

Is the talk on 21/4 at 9:30? I may not come as I don't want to take a day leave from work. For 17/4 gathering, I am not sure if I will attend or not and I hope it will not be raining on that day.

為何唔第二天即放回冰格, 日後解凍即食. 我試過很多次d奶都沒有變. 如果倒了我一定 :-( :-( , 因好辛苦泵出來.

如果日後您對餵固體食物有問題, 可以call我或上bk睇下我幫唔幫倒您. 以前ryan食固體食物都是我煮, 所以我都知小小, 不過做唔倒代表.

I have start giving 純米糊 to my son since 4 months as his doctor suggested we do that. But each time he eats only about 1-2oz or Breastmilk mixed with 純米糊 law. These few days we have add carrot 蓉 to it and it's okay with him. I use 雀巢 because that's the brand i can find in the supermarket law.

A friend gave me this website to make my own cereals and other foods... you might find it interesting...

Here's what it says about making your own rice cereal:

Rice Cereal*
1. 1/4 c. rice powder (brown rice ground in blender or food processor)
2. 1 cup water
3. Bring liquid to boil in saucepan. Add the rice powder while stirring constantly.
4. Simmer covered for 10 minutes, mix in formula or breast milk and fruits if desired
5. Serve warm.

Thanks Becky! That photo was taken at her christening, so she had a special christening dress on.

When Letty was about 10 weeks old, my husband put a slice of lemon on her lips and she promptly licked it... lol.. you should have seen the look on her face... she made this cute frown but didn't cry though. I almost killed my husband over it!!!

I think fish is better than other food (let's face it, someone is bound to give some weird stuff to your baby to eat sooner or later...), at least it's white and lean meat I hope your baby is OK.

We went to the paediatric's this morning. The doc told me to start giving her a small amount of ground rice just to get used to eating, so I am going to try that. But I think I will mix it with a little bit of cereals just to make it more interesting and nutricious.
