Parental benefits are payable either to the biological or adoptive parents while they are caring for a new-born or an adopted child, up to a maximum of 35 weeks. To receive parental benefits you are required to have worked for 600 hours in the last 52 weeks or since your last claim. You must sign a statement declaring the newborn's date of birth, or, when there is an adoption, the child's date of placement for the purpose of the adoption, and the name and address of the adoption authority.
Parental benefits can be claimed by one parent or shared between the two partners but will not exceed a combined maximum of 35 weeks. Claimants making application for parental benefits must provide the name and Social Insurance Number (SIN) of the other parent for cross-reference purposes.

my pet - Blue Nimmo
my elder daughter's pet - Red Usal
my younger daughter's pet - Red Uni; and Green Wocky
We played for two weeks only, so they are quite "young" and we have not much $$ either. :-P :-P :-P We will play with the pets once or twice during the weekends only.
Today is my 8th day volunteer qurantine. Just two more days and I can go out. I must admitted for the last 7 days the most enjoyable things are with my princess (okay, and with my wife too). I must be very lucky that my in-laws and my neighbor are helping us to go thru these tuff times. Newspaper, grocery, calling us frequently so that we don't get bored. Apart from that, we spent most of the time in TV or internet.
To all other moms in HK, YES, generally, most Canadian are quite worry. They think we, the chinese, brought this virus to Canada. However, not only Canadian are treating us bad, even chinese community are treating ourselves badly. Chinese mall, resturants, super market are the biggest hit. We would goto non chinese supermakets or mall. I had asked some of my friends and none of them had been to the chinese supermaket since the outbreak.
As far as I know, there are four chinese rest. closed down already due to the outbreak. Star-walk cafe in Brimely and Steeles, Shun-Moon Congee in both locations (Midland and Finch and the Goldern Plaza in Hwy 7), Jade rest. in Kennedy and Finch.
I spoke with some of my co-workers (chinese), they said in downtown, business are usual. They don't have to wear mask to work or travel in subway.
Here is the news clip from the Singtao newspaper in Toronto.

sorry to hear about this. knowing that you are upset and worry about your parents in HK, but there's no use for you to go back - "isolated" with your mother at home together at this stage, nothing can be done. you can call her everday to comfort her and give her your support. are there any other relatives that can help your mother? hope she does not have the "sars".
Sorry to hear your father got SARS. I hope he is getting well soon. I totally agree with what ckkwkl and your relatives said. At this moment, your best solution is call daily to your mom. It's extremely high risk going back to HK right now. Does your father have a private phone line in PMH? If so, you can call him too.
It's difficult to convince your folks as I have been trying to convince my folks to come back during this crisis. (They are retired already). One word to describe my father - STUBBORN. My mom wants to come back but because my father, she has to stay in HK with him.
