In fact, I really don't know when is the appropriate time to change to use cup for drinking milk. But definitely, they need to start learn to use cup, because there is no bottle in school wow..

If your daughter has not taken up the skill of using cup yet, don't start with milk. Coz drinking about 6oz in one time is very difficult for them.

First you need to settle her to sit by a small table and wear a big bib, you can give her some of her favourite drink, like juice, in very very small plastic cup with handle (one handle or two handle also ok), about 1/4 cup full, don't too much, otherwise they will pour them onto their chest. Teach them to use both hands to hold the cup, their elbows/fore-arms can put on top of table to stablize their arms.
Do that more often, let them practice more then they can take up the skill of using cups. If she goes well, you can let her try to drink on chair/sofa only. But you must have the tolerance & patience that she will pour all the drinks onto her chest, don't shout at her for that. Praise her if she is doing well la...

just be more patient. allow some time for the transition. it never happens in one day. maybe you can try putting something she likes the best e.g. juice? firstly, half in the cup, and then half in the bottle. my boy likes me to hug him when drinking the milk. so i let him sit on my lap when straw-drinking. they all need to feel safe. the teat is so warm and soft and comfortable!
i used about 1 week for the transition from bottle milk to straw-cup milk, then 1 more week from straw to open-cup milk. juice is easier.
also, i put the trial at the night time. or when he feels most hungry. he will be more willing to try.

If you are planning to start using flash cards, I will recommend you to read <如何教寶寶閱讀>、<如何教寶寶數學>、<如何教寶寶百科知識> first. Because they can help to reinforce your belief to Glenn Doman methods.
About using blank cards/ready-made cards, that's really depends on your availability. Blank cards are always the best, but it takes you a lot of times. For easy start, you can purchase one set of ready-made cards (there is a lot of 2nd-hand available in <<教育小組>> section) that consists most of the commonly-used words, after used up, then you can buy blank cards to make more.

my boy haydn is now already 35 lbs! (measured last night). and I still have to carry him to put him to sleep.
sigh..............
he is not fat, just tall and big.
the teachers and amas thought that he should be in the K1 line while we queue up for the N1 yesterday, the 2nd day of nursery schooling !

dear nkkcal,
i have read the first book, but no time to prepare the cards yet.
can't find the second book.
the third book bought already, but no time to read yet. moreover, the ency card seems an impossible mission to me (too much time needed. more important is : too high PC skills needed. i am so poor in PC skills)
i buy doman's concept. hope to share some more with you if you have time. maybe later in any form of support group? gathering?

I understand your situation, that's most of moms here encountered. So that's why I also buy a ready-made set to start with, because making 100 cards can also take very long time.

where are you staying in S'pore?
I studied at Raffles JC for 2 years, long time ago. i still remember the life there. the photo you take with geralyn was at Sentosa? or the East coast? the people there are nice. they all speak eng and mandarin (and some cantonese) very well. my classmates loved rubby a lot.
I just flash the dot card with haydn now. may be later to add in the word card.

In this website, there are a lot of free flash card material & basic theory of Glen Domain method.

However, I agree with Nkkcal. In order to save up the time, you can start the ready made card first. Then, prepare the card by yourself later.

Nkkcal,

Lam Lam also refuse to use cup to drink milk. She only use cup to drink water/ juice.

sigh...went to see toyrus, uny, jusco & park n shop, i decided not to buy lah...coz most of them are quite heavy and the most important is geralyn doesn't want to sit in, sigh...i ask her, "u want to sit in a stroller?", she said "no", then i asked the sales girl to pull one most light-weighted stroller down, and asked her for long to sit in to try, okey finally she's willing to sit in but less than 5 secs, she needed to go down and asked me to put it back!

sigh...she still want my shoulder better ar! :-( :-(

really? when was it? why choose s'pore? did u further yr study there? i'm staying at woodlands, quite far away from town!

no lah, that photo was taken in stanley, HK last weekend, geralyn was first time to go beach, haha..i never bring her to Sentosa nor East Coast, what a shame! perhaps i should when we go back sg by the end of the sept then!

i'm sorry what's rubby??-(

no hurry, just flash as what haydn likes to...i used to flash her english and chinese word cards, ency cards and maths but she doesn't like to see cards since she has been in hk, perhaps there're so many interruption, so i just flash her ency cards & maths (equation) only up this moment, may catch it up when we got back sg!

All,

Wing Fung started to take the school lesson by himself since yesterday. Teacher told me that he missed me so much, cried and was looking for me yesterday. However, when she talked with him more and gave him a telephone to comfort him. He calmed down very fast. After went home, he also told me that he wanted to find me because he missed me. Of course, I comforted him that I would pick him up after the school and took him to play.

Today looked better, teacher said he enjoyed and involved in the class. However, when 嬸嬸 took him to change dirty clothes, he felt uneasy and cried until vomit. So he rarely urinated in toilet when he was at school. These two days when I picked him up, his pants were all wet. :-(

Hope he will gradually adapt soon la....
