actually my boy doesn't need mommy most of the times maybe since he's 3. i always need to beg him for hugs and kisses and most the times i still didn't get it from him. sigh ... maybe most boys are like that when they're getting older ...
however, it took him forever for him to do the things that i asked him to - such as brush his teeth, get ready for shower and changing clothes, etc. when it's running out of times, i had to help him.

for the homework thing, i'm not in a position to give u advise. but do u think "bribe" him? sometimes it worked for our boy who's in pre-k, but i'm not sure if it'll work for a 8-yr-old.

今日公司Good Friday假期，咁啱上午有個interview，係三藩市校區Senior Clerk Typist，明明話９點，點知因為等其中一個interviewer，卒之９點幾差不多３０分先開始，見到十點二，氣氛好好，有講有笑，只係其中遲到果一個interviewer比較cool，佢地話仲有幾個人要見，會好快比消息我。我聽到個ＨＲ話有６個candidates,要見到１２點，咁我咪順路番公司泵奶，因為已經谷到好痛，實頂唔到番屋企。點知真係好快俾消息我，１２點１０分，其中一個interviewer打俾我話我個interview 好impressed，决定請我，不過果個位暫時係temp，因為而家果個員工seriously ill, 佢地要請人頂佢個位，但要等到１０月佢如果唔番先可以轉我做perm，但佢地相信果個人好大機會番唔到，即使佢番去，咁佢地都好容易可以安排第二個位俾我。人工比我而家呢份工只係多４％，離我屋企嘅車程差唔多，而家就朝８晚４，不過今年冇人工加，manager 超好人，只係份工冇前途，好似做妹仔咁，咪駛旨意發達，本來諗住公司大職位多可以轉，點知早排layoff好多人，ＨＲ都冇辦法搵到位俾果Ｄ人，莫講話轉職，反而見好多人年年降格，由district manger 變regional manager 再變area manager, 最攞命係marketing manager 變administrative assistant，真係對公司好心淡，冇法啦，銀行業而家真係好慘。

講番今日見果份，職位ＯＫ，應該冇難度，多數做excel spreadsheet，接電話查詢，打correspondence 、memo，返８放５，佢地知我要送囝囝返托兒所，主動話可以就我，返遲Ｄ放遲Ｄ，６個月後加人工。佢地仲話如果我ＯＫ，可以即刻出offer letter，但我話想諗下，星期一再覆，同埋我manager 下星期放假，我一定要等佢放完假先辭職，否則佢實嬲死我。我老公就就話如果我係裏面做，第時囝囝囡囡讀書揀學校唔多唔少有幫助，起碼我會知邊間好邊間唔好，識人又會着數Ｄ，而家有Ｄ十五十六，人工唔係多好多，車程差唔多，如果做政府工，好似穩陣Ｄ，做政府工Ｄ朋友話，最緊要入咗先，遲Ｄ有更好位轉會容易Ｄ，同埋有Ｄ位只係接受現職工務員申請。

各位媽咪，你地點睇？如果真係幫到仔女升學，真係點都值得，但係唔知係咪得。

It's interesting for you gals to mention about Bear Stearns. Cuz I'm a Bear employee ma... My friend told me that recruiters received at least 1000 resumes on Monday just from my firm. I heard that half of employees will probably get cut...

have u ever worked in the Whippany office too?
i don't quite remember exactly when i worked there, but it must be before i was pregnant. so i think it should be around 2nd 1/2 of year 2001 to beginning of 2002. during that time, basically i lived in Whippany during weekdays. for sure it's winter time, coz i got a big flu with 103F fever lasted for several days. my buddy worried abt me and came all the way from East Brunswick to take me to her place during the weekend. since then, i don't like living in the east coast and don't like my job nature. however, now i found out being a stay-home mom is even a tougher job.

according to what u said, sounds like there're more pros than cons from the new job offer wor ...
however, if u're thinking about switching to another position, my next question is: what are the kind of positions i can apply provided that i work for the current position in my department?

nice offer. they give u flexible time for picking up and dropping off that's a big plus already. and if ur kids could go to better school that's great too.

u should have alot less headache than me since ur boy is so independent...i guess we probably have spoiled our oldest too much that's why he really depend us to do almost everything for him...training him at this age is hard la...

so what's ur plan? r u gonna look for another job anytime soon? let me know if u want I could submit ur resume to my co's human resouce dept to see if they have any opening. what did ur co-workers say anyway? there r still half of the employees gonna be staying ma.

when your son goes to kindergaten this sept then maybe you could for a job then. i think working part time is ideal. cuz at least u could pick him up after school =)

The new job sounds like it's flexible, and it provides benefits for your kid's future. On the other hand, you feel so disappointed on the current job... no raise, no future, people got demoted, etc. There seems like nothing worth for you to stay. The only bad thing about the new job is it's not perm. So you have no idea how long they can keep you. But if I were you, I would give it a try.

Hi all mamis,

Thanks for your comments. I finally did not take the new job offer. Reasons behind: -

1) CA state just announced to cut 4.8 billion on education funding and SFUSD will be suffered by a lose of $40million. There's a high chance that the School District needs to have layoff in this year. Since my job is a temp position, I'm so scared that I'll lose my job soon.

2) Compared to other civil servants in other divisions, the pay of SFUSD is the lowest, average 4-5% lower for the same position. Even the teachers are paid the lowest amongst all the teachers in Bay Area.

3) I talked to my boss and found out that he has recommended a 3% increase of salary for me this year but it has not be confirmed yet. It will be made official on April 1. There's a new policy that a performance appraisal is not necessary.

4) My boss's manager made a personal call to me and told me that he and my manager are really appreciate my work and he would like me to consider to stay. Well, at least, it's good to have recognition.

Honestly speaking, I would still keep searching for a better job. But now, with the 3% increase, plus my boss allows me to come to work late to drop off my son and I can leave by 4pm (that means 8:15am-4:00pm everyday), unless I can find one that I like so much or it pays so good, it's hard for me to change my job. Shorter working hour is always favorable for me to take care my 2 kids.

I have been to the Whippany office for few times. I used to work in the Metrotech building and got transferred to the Madison office 5 years ago...
It is not easy to be a stay at home mom. Since I'm still on maternity leave, I spend so much time to "entertain" Corey. He keeps me very busy...

Currently, I'm still waiting for my manager to tell me whether he wants to keep me or not. If he doesn't, my package is not bad at all. Based on the years that I served at bear, I will get 6 months of salary plus double pay if he wants me to help for extra few weeks. On top of that, I should be eligible to collect unemployment

. People from my team are not looking for any jobs yet. I will update my resume probably in another month. Thanks for your offer to submit the resume for me, I will keep this in mind and hopefully I don't need your help :)

that's right ... cupertino, san jose, and other school districts are also affected by the budget cut.

i think i could look for a job only if my kid goes to kindergarten full time (that means mostly at private school). however, we're still waiting for a space from our #1 choice private school.
it's not easier to get a p/t job in IT or software engineering unless i wanna go back to my accounting career.
