It was a beautiful day yesterday to experience two champions with my daughter. Her school choir won the first champion in the morning, and the kids jump for joy after the competition while we parents were so happy watching them. In the evening, she got the first prize in the U145 Sonatina competition with 90 marks. It was a not so satisfactory performance - she played slower and become rather sluggish at one of the transition. We were surprised that she won. Here's the adjudicator's comments to share with you :-
" Projects and sings melody. Beautiful crystalline runs. Phrasing exemplary ! Very involved in music. Good balance of sound. Enjoyed it! Keep on playing !"
Now she looks forward to her three forthcoming competitions, and I hope that will mean more motivated and enjoyable practice on her own.
We haven't planned for overseas study as my boy is not yet mature enough to take care of himself . Though overseas study pushes children to early independence, it also means sacraficing a close parental relationship. We will prefer him to study in a local university if he can manage that.
Hi elainebell, Heidi 媽 , JP, Zoey, csk, Easy 媽, Rachethew, Sindy and littlecat,
Thanks very much for sharing our joy. The Sonatina is her challenge this year. Although she got a prize, there is still much for improvement in delivering a good performance. She played a slower tempo which greatly reduced the flow and enjoyment of the music.
Hi elainebell,
My daughter is 7 year old and in P1.
Hi JP,
The adjudicator in my daughter's competition is different from last week. This adjudicator encouraged pedalling and suggested the candidates to wear concert attire to show more respect to the competition. The winners in my event mainly played the Op. 88 No. 3 & 4.
Hi Rachethew,
Our Choir under 8 won the Chinese event yesterday and goes to the Final (15/3 ??) 10 of our 60 choir members were sick and the teacher worried that the voice is not enough. Today, they only got the 3rd prize in the English event, and DGJS is first. My daughter told me they are going to HK Park for a good time after the competition.
Hi Zoey,
Yes, my girl loves music and yet she moves a lot in concert/master class or even falls asleep.
When she was a baby, even since very very small, she would stop crying immediately when I started singing to her. When she was one-year old, she always brought her book of nursery rhymes to me when I was at the piano, and demanded singing at least 10 songs with her before letting go. At the play school, she was the first one to rush to the music room to wait for music lesson to start, and enjoyed every moment of it. At 3-year, she was a true fans of Charlotte Church and sang all her CD songs. Now she still enjoys singing very much, and is very happy each time we bought her a new classical CD. Her latest present was a full collection of the Mozart piano compositions, and she loves the piano variation on the theme of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
