出書? Let me think about it...just kidding...it's better to have 2-way communication with other moms in here. I hope that my experience can help the others.
Well, go back to the questions. If you have let down for your right breast but very low milk supply from the left side, I would suggest you to offer the left side first for each feeding so as to stimulate milk production and to try to clear clot ducts. Usually, baby would suck more aggressively when she's hungry. So, it will help you to have more stimulation to the side that you nurse her first. Wait until the milk supply of both sides is more balanced, then you can nurse in turn. If your girl only eats one side, give her the left side first then the right side if she's still hungry.
For eating, 2-3 meals per day is not enough even though you eat a lot each meal. The trick is to eat more frequent with little portion, just like what a diabetes patient does. The reason is that you need to nurse your baby so many times and it's good that you have a full stomach (at least not empty) for each feeding. To prevent overeating and sugar contents fluctuate, my ob suggests me to eat smaller meals but have snacks in between. She told me to eat 3 major meals and 3 snacks in between each meal and before bed. You know, if you eat a big meal (particularly a lot of carbonhydrates), your sugar content will go up a lot instantly and your energy would be used to digest the food, then you become tired and thirsty. To keep yourself more energetic, you should consider to have less carbonhydrates in a meal, have a lot of vegetables, meat (protein). For snack, a glass of milk plus some fruits, or some crackers, with some nuts such as walnuts, cashews, almonds would be good. You can have a piece of bread with peanut butter and jam. I guarantee that you won't feel hungry and tired all the time. When my girl was still young like yours, she exactly did the same thing - cried, slept for only a short while. I even suspected that she has a sensor to track me - once I went to bed, she started crying. So, most of the time, I could not even have a nap in the daytime.
Prepare some food which can be microwaved or not required cooking so that you don't have to cook and save the time for nap. Even a 15-minute nap helps us to refresh. Remember to drink water or other beverage which is very important for making milk. After I went back to work and I don't have much time to drink water, my milk supply sometimes drops. For Vitamins, you can buy those counter-top ones. Just a reminder, Omega 3 is good enough, no Omega 9 which is bad for health. Taking vitamin supplement is to add extra nutrition to your milk, particularly you may not want to or able to eat sufficient to support both yourself and the baby.
Are you a full time mom? Are you able to have someone helping you in the daytime? Says if your mom or 99 is able to drop by for a few hours so that they can play with your daughter and you can have a nap? Or, you should see if your hubby can help to take care the daughter for 1 or 2 hours after off from work and you can take a quick rest before you take the night-shift. My hubby used to kick me to sleep for 1 hour before dinner so that I can refresh and take care the daughter at night.
I know that it's hard but it's real that you become so stressed if you worry too much about how to increase milk supply. Just take it easy and it takes a while to adjust. Even though you change your diet today, it needs 2-3 days for your body to read the message and increase milk supply.
