I forgot to tell u that last time we went to GC, I bought the 百科圖 and the phonic kids. As u had mentioned, the 百科圖綱領really useful (at least at the moment I don't have the time to search around! :mrgreen: ) And even the pictures are drawing but I think it's still acceptable. We are still waiting for the delivery!

Do u play the vcds in the phonic kids for ur baby? Anson is not that interested in it at home when I play them. Still remember he danced with the rhythm in GC? But at home he just running around when I play it

Your hubby is so nice.....accompanied u to GC again. No hurry la for the science thing. There are really lots and lots of things to teach our babies. :-P

Yeh la! u had already ordered the plain cards, otherwise assign the printing job is good with high quality.

U know, my brother was so eager to look for the printing co. cos he said that my niece doesn't want the flash cards months ago. He found that she started to distinguish 漂亮/整齊 or not, i.e. she likes to look at the tidy printed words

! Then he bought a better printer and print the words out for her, she likes it again

! But he said that the ink and papers are quite costly.

When I told him that I might buy word cards from 三之三, he asked me to hold and started searching for me. Though the one he found is not that satisfactory, I really appreciated what he did. And luckily, last time when I had lunch with my ex-colleague, she said that she knew a printing co. that might take up such kind of job. They are now talking about may be less than $1.1/half A4 size cards (260p). I think for long term it's worth searching! :mrgreen:

I'll keep u guys informed and post the samples here once it's confirmed. OK!

Hi Everyone,

My daughter is 3 and a half months and I'm currently on maternity leave. I am debating if I should go back to work or not in January. Honestly, does anyone of you girls miss working? Is it fun to stay home with your bb?

I hired a chinese maid to take care of my bb and she will start in 2 weeks. Right now, I have someone come to help clean the house and my husband also helps me.

For Ralph, until now he seems very interested the phonics kids VCD at the first 5-10 mins as i play it to everyday.
I think anson is attracted by others toys at home when u are playing the VCD.So he seems not really interested the VCD.
Same as Natasha, Ralph still have a liite bit rnning nose.

Nice to meet u!!!

For me, honestly, it is very hard to be a full time mum.But u can c your bb growing up everyday. Learn different things everyday, i think u must be very exciting.

Agree with Anton, seeing baby growth every day are really excited, it really worths.

Here's my sharing about work....

I started a free lance since last Tuesday (till this Thu), though I only need to return to office 2 half days and work at home for the rest, I found I miss Andrea so much!

Also, the work is quite demanding, even I work at home, I need to be on-line all the time. So I can't go out with Andrea, just can spend 30 mins to walk with her downstair.

So I think I won't take any full-time job, but free-lance every 2-3 mths is good for me (to keep in touch with the market ma)

free-lance is okay lah, but it's really busy, can't image how can I handle it in the past :b
Anyway, it's still good 'coz I won't be too "out" from the market

I only play the cd to Andrea, which she & me treats it as baby songs, so no significant help.

However, my nephew (3 yrs old) loves it very much. He learnt the ABC from school and he asked my sister : why the teacher said "A is for ant" but phonics kids said "A is for alligator"?, very funny :mrgreen:

Anyway, I just let Andrea get used to the English speaking cd, hope she can speak good English lor.

FYI, I also let her listen to 唐詩三百首 cd in mandarin when I need her to clam down, so far so good. (I bought it at Idea bookshop, ~$30, book with cd

)

for the "Big Science stuff", is it video? Pls note that Idea bookshop also has lots of Discovery Channel dvd/books, u may have a look before u purchase at GC :mrgreen:

The part-time helper come today, she's really helpful. She also remind me that my bb is starting to crawl, i should put away all the movable socket and the shoe shelf!

Wow! Your niece is so clever, already know what's beautiful or not! 真鬼馬! You're so lucky to have a great brother who is so enthusiastic on teaching bb. I wonder beside the 三之三, there is still other choices? ?-( So regret that i've bought the plain card already!!

I have not get the phonic kids last time, as it's too big, i'll wait for the delivery! Hoping that she enjoy it! It's a great improvement that at least Ralph watch the VCD for 10 min! Maybe you could try watching the VCD with Ralph together for sometimes! So that he won't associate watching VCD mean mama leave him alone!

Nam Nam used to be crying whenever i leave her alone playing on the floor mat. Then I try to play with her on the mat for few days. Now at least she could play by herself for almost 30 min, sometime even longer!

It's really a big decision whether to go back to work or not! Have u discussed with your hubby? I think the most important thing is that he supports ur decision to be a FT mom.

In fact, u have been a FT mom for 3.5 mths already. Do u enjoy the life of FT mom?

I would concern most that 'who' will be taking care of ur baby after u go to work? See how is the chinese maid u mentioned first la. If she is reliable and could take very good care of ur baby, then u may go back to work to see if u are satisfied with the life like that. But u know, no one would love ur baby like you yourself! I also hired chinese babysitter in Anson's first 9 mths. She just kept talking on the phone and watching TV when taking care of the baby :evil: !

Sure! Seeing the growth of ur bb is the most enjoyable job for a mother. Otherwise u will miss her so much in the office

. If ur hubby supports ur decision, then why not?

Hope u could join us (FT mom) soon!

That's great that Ralph enjoys the phonic kids! But I'll still play them everyday to Anson just let him to get use to them.

I'm glad that u find the PT helper helpful. Yeh, she always teaches me how to take care of baby, boil what kind of soup (though I don't boil soup that often), and remind me what to notice at home esp with the kid, etc. A very nice person.

Hehe....I also think that my niece is very smart

Thank you for everyone's advice. My husband is really supportive of me staying at home. Actually, he is the one who prefers it that way. I do enjoy being with my bb for the past 3.5 months but also miss the adult interaction at work. I'm also used to spending my own money so don't know how it would be like to use my husband's money. The plan now is to give the chinese maid a try and quit if it doesn't work out. Just want to see if you girls have any regrets staying at home.

U know, if your hubby is so supportive and you really like the life of being a FT mum, seeing your baby grow day by day, then why not give it a try.
I personally think if your husband don't mind, spending his money is not an issue cos you are also contributing to the family in another way.
Sometimes, I do miss work a bit, esp when I have to see my maid everyday, but seeing my girl growing up is a totally different experience. I didn't regret it even I found it harder than being an OL.

Sorry gals, got held up these few days.

Natasha has recovered now, but I'm still very careful on what she wear since the weather keeps changing everyday.

Guess what!?
I'm so careless today, Natasha fell from the sofa at dawn for the first time. :-(
Well, I was trying to hunt for the books I bought her the other day to train her reading habit back. I put her on the sofa and sit next to her, she was playing with the sofa back while I was looking for the books right next to her. Just one split of a second, I heard her fell and catch her immediately before she completely fell to the ground. She was crying so hard and it took a very long time to calm her.
Poor thing, what a careless mum she has. Thanks god she was okay.
I feel really regretful and angry of myself after failing her like that.
