You are having conflict here - You dont like the job and but you also dont know what you like??

IT field is very board and can you move around different area. My brother was data admin before and now he works at IT audit. My BIL working on IT security and he teach in university as well. What you really hate about the job?

It is true not many people like the job but we just work there in order to pay the bills. Then use the money to do somthing you like, such as traveling or buying something in order to balance yourself. I believe you have no burden on your family and that's why you are so free to quit the job.

Since you have no burden, do something you really like as you want to relax. Do you have any hobbies?

Do you like kids? How about adopt a child if you cannot have your own? Once you have a child, then you will never be free, trust me!

Or working in university since your husband is there. It is a high paid job, no stress and long vacation. I wish I can get it one day.

I don't like IT simply because I am not interested in the industry. I don't mind using it as a media of communication but not drilling further on it.

Yes, you are right that many people do not like their job. They may hang onto it simple because they need that for living or they have other focus after work.

Yeah, my husband and I would like to have kids but for our age, it is not easy, we tried to look for medical help but sounds not that avaliable here.....Adoption will be a last restort that my husband and I need further consideration.

It is quiet upsetting....

May be i have been too "tired" for the last couple of years, what I may need is just a long break.... i dont know...

Just wonder if you have negative personality? My husband does as he looks at everything at negative way. I am opposite and I have influenced him a lot since we married and now he is much better.

Many movie/singer/actor has it over age 40 and the oldest is like 64 in this year. Yes, if that doesnt happen, try medical help. My sister also has a friend not having baby until she is 44 by just luck. But you know, the older you are, the higher risk you will experience. eg, I need to go through all types of test as I am over 35.
Sometimes having a kid may not be a good choice if you prefer relaxing life. It is a burden and there is too much to worry if you bring that person into the world.

Dont just sit at home as you feel more depress without working. Go out and learn something or do volunteer job. I wish I have free time like you and no financial burden. How lucky you are!

Hello all! Christmas is just around the corner. Any particular celebrations for all of you in Canada? Skiing trips? Christmas parties? Potluck?
I won't be planning anything much for this Christmas as my Bryan baby is just 3 months old. Maybe I will have a Christmas party next year when he is older and he can play with other kids.
Please share your activities during this festive season.

we are old, so no skiing trips - just party and gathering.

we have pot luck on the Dec-19, company lunch yesterday.. and now the office is half-dead. most people taking day off to start the x'mas

we'll have dinner tomorrow night (for the chinese winter solitics) then party at my friends home on sat.. x'mas eve party at my godchildren's place - I knew we will have turkey, sushi, food platter, salad and many others on that night.

thus, we book the badminton court to play 2 hours in the morning (on Dec 24) so that we could digest what we had the night before and get ready for the big party on 24...
then x'mas day - will be our "stomach" resting day...
boxing day - will depend - if we have mood to fight for the big sales event.. otherwise, just another day of resting and get ready for the 27th work..
poor us - still need to go back to work for the year end. :-( :-(

Skiing is quiet expensive here and it is too risky to drive on slippery road. For us, it is just a holiday, nothing special. In fact, it is a good time to relax and play with my daughter. Now she is learing how to play checkers (chess) and my husband will spend more time to read books with her. For my daughter, I just sign her up on ice skating class in Jan.

If you think about the Xmas spirit, I think HK has much better atomsphere. In here, the celebration is mainly family reunion and church visit.

Personally I dont like the madness of Boxing day shopping. I don't see it is very cheap but just too crowd. Besides, we dont have so much spare money since we dont make much here. You may consider if you can tolerate it as we have very different culture.

where will u go for boxing day sale?

it is really help to save a lot if during the year, you will have lots of party to attend, lots of gifts to give out.. then, buying something general and could keep a year, this is the best time to save up $$

I do that sometimes. But I thought the culture got change, the sale now extended to call the BOXING WEEK sales , instead of boxing day ... so might just go on the 27 instead...

Merry Christmas to you all!

we did spend a little extra from the Christmas sale. Just buy some toys, clothings for my daughter and baby. Nothing for ourselves! I like the pre-Christmas sale. I find usually the sale after Christmas usually is out of size or style. And some stores offer price adjustment, so I just buy before Christmas get the adjustment in New year! Same thing and without the hassels.

If I buy clothes, usually I will wait for the season clearance as the clothes are much cheaper.

Are you going to dress your daughter with new clothes when you go to church?

My husband is at Metrotown (biggest shopping centre in Vancouver) right now and he said it is so crowd! In fact, he is not doing Xmas shopping, he just buy grocery.

As I am now in Hong Kong, there is no Boxing day sale. But when I was in Vancouver, I used to go to Metrotown to shop.

Of course, I am NOT dressing her with new clothes! Most of her clothes are passed over by my friends. Many of them are fairly new and she only wears them a few times. When I were young, we didn't have a tradition to wear new clothes on Chinese New Year.

I shop now because she doesn't have enough coat for school. Also bought a few clothes for the baby because Children Place is have 50% off the already reduced price.

if you don't mind 2nd hand clothes, i have some, still quite new. i am using these few days to clean house, clear up wardrobe etc. can give you on friday.

i have some hard cover books for kids (english, chinese, pop-up). do you want for caron? the clothes (dress and sweaters) are for 4 yrs old, not too many as i have given some to salvation army early this year. how about some sweat shirt (not so fancy - for going to school)?? snow boots?
