Just remember some other food I ate after delivery of my son: -
1) You can try to eat the papaya without cooking it, just eat it as a snack (buy smaller one or split it into several times), choose the ripen one. If you like, blend it with milk as a drink or heat up the milk and add papaya to it right before turning off the fire, as a dessert.
2) My mom used to make soup with "pig's hand" or "pig's foot" and green papaya or squash. Spoon out the fat on top and eat all the ingredients. The meat (pig's hand or pig's foot) is very nutritious to build up the bones of the baby. And, it helped me to increase my milk flow a bit.
3) Chicken is good for your body recovery. You can try different kind of cooking - steam, bake, stir fried, slow cooking, etc. I like the most is stir fried chicken with "gold needles" and wooden ears. Add a bit of rice wine to avoid the fishy flavor of the gold needles and wooden ears. My aunt has no family member here when she gave born to her daughter. What she ate everyday is just chicken. She marinated the chicken with some salt, oil and soy sauce, then put it on top of the rice inside the rice cooker. She ate it everyday any time when she felt hungry. It's the cheapest and easiest way to help the body recovered.
4) If you like, eat the liver and kidney of the chicken too. These are high in iron and protein. Also, you don't have to waste it when you buy the whole chicken. I ate these during my pregnancyand post-partum to give extra nutrition to my son.
5) Another one is red dates (without the cores). Put some into hot water and soak them for a while. Don't need to be very concentrated, just get the iron from the red dates. Or, you can use red dates to make dessert with boiled eggs and rock sugar. You can also add lotus seed and "pak hop" to have more variety.
I was given a lot of different kinds of food after gave born to my son. My mom and my 99 made a lot and they discussed what and how to make the food for me. Most of the time, I need to stop them making too much because I cannot eat that much. So, keep trying and don't giving up. Remember, the situation can only be better and improving because you and your daughter are learning from every feeding. Cheers up.
