maggiewawa,
Where you live now? I'm living in USA and I'm a full-time working mom with 2 kids. I breastfed and formula-supplement my first one for 10 months until I was pregnant again. My younger one just turned 1 years old and I'm still breastfeeding her. I nurse her skin to skin in the morning and before bedtime (sometimes at midnight if she wakes up asking for milk). Then, I pump 2 times at work so that she has milk for next day daytime. Since my daughter does not eat a lot of milk and she is eating solid food twice a day now, the pressure of breastfeeding or pumping is not too much. I should admit that breastfeeding is a big committment and I have sacrified quite a bit -- says not able to do hair color (I inherit white hairs from my mom), not able to do exercise to slim down (still have a big tummy), not able to go out on my own for more than 2 hours, and so and so...
The bottom line is that we need a balance of our lives (not just yours or your baby's but all including your hubby, family....) Feeding is just a part but not all. If cutting short on this can lead to a healthier family growth, I don't see it selfish.
