Did your bb start losing weight when she start crawling? Crawling uses lots of energy so that might be the reason. Another thing is breastfed baby needs extra iron once they started solids. If your bb's not allerrgic to beef, you might wanna try giving him some beef, or chicken liver. My son's allergic to beef and very dislike chicken liver (zip his mouth when the spoon with chicken liver gets close his mouth). If his iron level low, absorption of other nutrients can be inefficient. However, these are only some opinions based on my experience. If you are concerned (who wouldnt!), please check with a paediatrician.
I live overseas and has never lived in HK before but i think MOther and Child Care centre is where you wanna go and get a referral to see a paediatrician.

My bb started crawling at 6 months, and at the same time, I fed her with solid food. I guess she started getting thin at about 7.5 months.
Why BF babies need extra iron once they started solids? Why it doesn't matter before they started solids? Why is it different from babies with formula milk?
Besides beef and chicken liver, what's else can I introduce to bb's diet to raise the iron intake? Is soy another food good for babies with insufficient iron? Is port also good?

曾有營養師同我講bb轉食固體初期會有體重回落跡象, 而且你bb都仲喺normal weight內, 如身體健康少病痛, 健康院會覺得正常, 而我bb係因為打1歲針時體重由一向25%果條線跌出3%果條線(差少少先掂到3%果條線), 而身高由50%果條線跌到3%果條線, 而且佢食量都很大, 所以健康院醫生先ref去睇專科, 佢話體重跌好正常, 因bb活動量大, 但身高跌咗3條線(由50%--->3%)就覺得可以ref去專科檢查一下吧.....所以你bb如無特別情況差, 只係體重低d(仲喺正常範圍內)+發展正常, 健康院唔會受理, 等到打1歲針返健康院時才再問問吧!!! 如真的好擔心, 可試下有機會時先問下醫生吧....另外訓得唔好都會影響bb長肉的, 只要體重同身長都成正比都唔駛太擔心, 因你bb出世時都係細碼吧!!!!

我bb下個禮拜三(19/11)先去覆診, 如bb真的貧血, 我諗應該都係要補鐵質吧, 到時問下醫生先!!!

They said the iron in breastmilk are in different form to the iron in formula. Even though the iron concentration in breastmilk is much lower than those in formula, iron in bm can be absorbed in our babies' body much more efficiently. However, when our babies start taking solids, iron in solids might interfere with the absorption of the iron from breastmilk, therefore breastfeeding mums need to pay more attention to the iron intake of their babies once they started taking solids. Soy, from what i know, has not much iron (unless it's fortified). Beef and chicken liver are the best options. Even pork has much less iron than beef, although babies rae less likely to be allergic to pork. Ah, because Vitamin C can make the absorption of iron more efficient, you might want to feed your bb some Vitamin C-food together with iron-rich food.

My bb also started gaining weight mush slower after starting solids. But that conincides with the period of him starting being extremely active (jumping all days and crawled). So, I have no idea what the actual reason of his growth slowing down.

Ya, I guess if the bb's height growth had also slowed down, it's worth checking it out. Just as my bb's weight dropped from 25% to less than 3%

, his height actually went up from 50% to 50%~75%, and head circumference also went up from 50%~75% to even higher. SO, the paediatrician wasnt very concerned. She only made suggestion for bb's diet.

無錯,我bb超細碼!人地望佢,仲以為得6個月,甚至得3個月,其實已經9個月啦!d人成日眼望望,話點解咁細既bb坐得咁穩,企得咁好添!

但bb由6個月時體重近25%,drop到3%啦!差唔多7個月時磅過一次,15.5lb,到最近8個半月磅,都係15.5lb,2個月以來一d都無重過,好明顯細粒左,所以我先擔心囉!

我都希望佢只係唔肯瞓唔長肉,唔好有其他事就好啦!

oic! Thank for your detail explanation!
Now, I just give egg york and port to bb for iron. That means I can try giving bb beef & chicken liver. Is pig liver also rich in iron? How about vegetables and fruits? Any other suggestions?
Does it work if I myself eat more food with iron or take iron supplement?

It doesnt matter if your body's low in iron, the iron level in your breastmilk will still be the same. You are the one who feel weak if you don't have enough iron. Even if you eat lots of food that's high in iron, your breastmilk will not have more iron.
Veges-I give my bb avocado (it has lots of good fat), brocolli (beware, may have lots of worms), green beans and asparagus. I buy organic veges and fruits.

Avocadoes are not particularly high in iron but good in overall, brocolli is. Bear in mind that iron in plants are not absorbed by our body as well as iron in animal meat. So, I tend not to rely on iron in veges. Yes, they are good for 9-month olds.
