I just migrated to Adelaide last October. I love this place very much, it's not too busy and not too quiet. I've been living in Melbourne and Tasmania for a few years before. And I've been to Canberra, Gold Coast, Brisban, Perth, Sydney, Alice Spring.
I love Adelaide and Tasmania the most. I didn't choose Tasmania b'cos it's too isolated or you could say inconvenient, no direct flight to Hong Kong.
So I choose Adelaide, living standard is not as high as Sydney. My daughters, 4 and 2, love here very much. They don't want to go back hk since arrived here.

Just rec'd from canberra govt for 良民証 and body check but still no response from Adelaide though we applied for Adelaide earlier than canberra. Actully I am still struggling.
Well, around 30% cheaper in Adelaide, depends on the size and location. In Adelaide, 5 minutes drive to city, 15 mins by bus, 2 bed rooms unit AU$300 per week. In Sydney, it might cost $400.
There is a direct flight from Hong Kong to Adelaide daily by Cathay, but Adelaide to Hong Kong need to stop one hour in Melbourne.
I am living in Adelaide and I feel Adelaide is a good place to live. Lot of Chinese ( of coz not as many as Sydney and Melbourne) . Relax and Comfortable place to live. However, it is pretty hot is summer time ( but just only few days will over 40 degree). Other than this, the living standard is low compare to others city. My two son love it so much.
