kikicookie,
MY son was EXACTLY the same. He did not like my right breast, so throughout the 16 months of breastfeeding, I had one breast that looked like a cow's and the other looked like a man's But after about 1 month he's weaned, the breasts are same size la~~~so don't worry
Also, my son hardly ate anything too before he weaned! I had to beg him to eat something. He would lift up my top and helped himself like those are milk dipenser free of charge. ANd everytime he took 2 sips, and refused to have proper milk after that. AFter he weaned, he LOVES his food, he eats everything and eats a massive lot too! SO, don't worry your baby will eat normal when she's weaned (someday).
cecichow,
I think I watched the same programme and i remembered i thought,'Geez, I don't want my kids to have anything to do with dairy products!.'. But when I was weaning my boy, I did a bit of research and asked professional opinions about this. Well, firstly i think animal's milk is still the best secondary food for kids, it has lotsa protein, fat and carbs. I was worried about casein (cow's milk protein), so I decided to give goats milk (as it's easier digested) and agreed by a paeds. Initially I bought Holle goat's milk for my baby but then I thot, since he's on solids, he has all the nutrients already and doesnt need the so-called vitamin (in the form of chemical) from formula. EVen organic formula has lotsa ingredients that's unknown to me!
Secondly, I'd rather my child getting good-quality milk protein than too much hormone-loaded meats nowadays. Especially red meat, I only give him right amount to meet the iron requirement.

As you know your child best, I guess you might wanna think about how to wean her with the least pain for her. It depends on how frequent she's feeding at the moment, night feeding, whether can she understand simple commands etc. But one thing you have to be ready is that she will definitely cry.
I'll share with you how I did mine:
(1) I stopped giving day feeds like 2 weeks before full weaning. Basically I distract him with food that he likes (eg. biscuits and fruits) or take him out for a play when he asked for 'neinei'.
(2) This is the most important procedure, which is counting down with him to the full weaning day. I started from 5 days. I told him before he feeds 'XXX days later, there will be no more 'neinei''. The final time i fed him, I let him to go for as long as he liked, touched the breasts and asked him to say 'byebye' to 'neinei'. I did that because my son knows that once he said 'byebye' to something, that thing's leaving. After that, I put on my bra and never let him see the breasts anymore.
He stopped asking for the breasts to go to sleep. Sometimes he was thinking of asking and then remembered and said 'byebye' to himself.
(3) Put bras on days and night (if you sleep with him) so that he couldnt smell the breasts.
(4) Once he's half-weaned, he was very hungry and I made sure he was very full before bedtime.
(5) Just a reminder that if she's due for his 18-month vaccination soon, wean after that because she might need the breast comfort after the shots.
HOpe these help

I guess the protein found in cows milk is not a bad stuff, but it's just can't be digested by some people, hence the allergy. As the article said, goats milk is closer to breastmilk.
For me, I give my child fresh goats milk. Even with HOlle, it's still a processed product and there are lotsa added ingredients. As my child has multiple food allergy, I tend to give him the simplest food I can find.
I'm so glad my baby was breastfed for a long period of time. You know what, our breastfed babies never forget the comfort they once derived from our breasts. JUst 2 nights ago, there was a thunderstorm here. Myy son, who was sleeping on his own room, frightened and cried. When I picked him up, he lifted up my top, buried his face into my breasts, and fell asleep...Right at that moment, i was thinking to myself, 'It's right what they said, breastfeeding is the most precious gift you can give to your baby!'.

cecichow,
My son is having fresh goat milk purchased from major supermarkets.
PS: DON't say that about yourself. YOu are raising your daughter very well, that's quite an achievement!
