I support mothers to have natural birth. 'Natural' is always the best.
I believe that the professional doctors and nurses all agree that 順產好. Mothers should only 開刀 when conditions not permit for natural birth.
It's also strange that the husband would ask his wife to have c-section after the prenatal class. It is because the speaker (nurse) usually says the good sides of natural birth and the shortcomings of c-section.
Although not all private doctors would recommend caesarean sections to their clients, it is a fact from statistics that caesarean rates at private hospitals in HK are substantially higher than those in the public sector: http://bmj.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/full/324/7335/486#resp1
again I am not saying that all private doctors are like that (recommending caesarean for their own convenience) but some certainly are. Mine did, I went public, and had a normal vaginal delivery.
