Well, when you go for your N-400, be well prepared.. they always wanna find the reason you come to US.. for Greencard or you really fall in love with your spouse.
Well.. I am clean.. 100%, 2 children with the sam e husband living together for more than 5 years, and work as a nurse here.. what do they want to teast behind me???? so annoying.!(excure me..)

SO, remember to pack every thing with both of your name on it.. that's help. Glad that I change my Last name.. and that save my time.

Just curious ... What if your green card is about to expire and you don't plan to become a citizen yet? Can you renew your green card? If so, for how long? 10 yrs? and how many times can you renew it?

yes u just renew it. I think each time is 10 yr. I think there is unlimited time to renew it (based on current rules). I know some old ppl have their PR status for decades and dun wanna be citizen.

Yeah need to dig up all those info again. 不經不覺，都來了這裏十六年。在這裏生活比在香港習慣多了。不過十多年前讀過的American Government都忘得七七八八，要review一下才行。

go to the chinese newspaper agency, they have the disc for naturalization, just study on that disc, I did that too.

also, rose-mag,
as per bunnymonkey said.. you can renew your green card as many time as you want and each time for 10 years.

Just wondering, what is the official procedure if I want to change my last name? I think it's not so common in HK....

Also I'd like to know, that my kids are not born in US, do they need to go through any exams too if I apply citizenship for them after 5 years staying in US holding their green card?

If the kids are under 18 and their parents apply for N-400 and become US citizen, the kids will become citizen too. If the parents don't apply and become citizen before they turn 18, then the kids can apply their own N-400 after 18 yr old.

Do the kids need to live in US for over 5 years too? If I stay in US for 5 years and the kids just stay here for 4 years, can they become citizen too?

Children under 18 years old, will follow their parents. If you or your spouse passed the exam on that day. Officer will ask you, do you need your children to get the citizenship as well, and you say yes. they know, because you have to provide their birth certificate on your exam. if they did not ask you at the beginning, then, you need to show them at that moment.
Also, on the day for naturalization, you need to bring your children with you. they may not need to stay in front of the judge, but the officer will ask you how many children will become citizen that are under 18 years old on behalf of you!

If a person got green cards and stay in US for more than 3 years and have never leave US over 6 months in a roll, they basically meet the requirement to become US citizen. (Not from Marriage).

Previously I heard form someone (forgot who) said we can't apply to get the citizenship if we hold greencard for more than 5 years, which in between we need to be physically in US for no less then 30 months?
So actually just 3 years is enough? (I'm not applying by marriage).

I am sorry to mis-lead you.
My meaning is..
A person who has green card for at least 5 years and live in US for more than 3 years, then they can file N-400.Not holding a green card for 3 years.

Only for those who comes to US because of marriage, can go for the naturalization when they received their greencard for 3 years, and lives in US for more than 180 days per year.
