Rasa Ria is very far from the town, need to go by taxi almost one hour, taxi fee will be very expensive too.

I just come back from Sabah on 29 June, i have stay in Tanjung Aru, the kid clud is very good too (i haven't take my kid, but i can see the kids really have fun in there.

請問有沒有人剛剛去完沙巴回來?可不可以講吓當地情況?熱不熱,衛生ok嗎?
囡囡得獎,可以免費遊沙巴,五日四夜,她又第一次出外去旅遊,我又唔得閒跟去,叫了阿姨跟去,但很擔心,現在十五十六想唔去,點算好?當看到什麼旅遊警告,就更加擔心!
可以告知情況嗎?

My husband+my son & I travelled KK last summer & stayed at Magellen Sutera. It is a very nice hotel with their own harbour that allows the guests to travel other islands very convenient (a staff will accompany you all the way with free of charge). I brought a 5D4N package last year & found that was not enough. We spent a day for 紅樹林及螢火蟲 tour. Also, a day to Manukan Island & Sapi Island with BBQ lunch. The BBQ lunch was quite good, esp for those fans of lamb steak. There were a lot of fish in the sea. So, remember to collect more bread when you have the breadfast buffet in the morning on the day you are going to the island tour. The flight schedules were not ideal last year (arr at late afternoon & return at 12pm)

As both of my husband & son prefer "sun & beach" tour in summer, I have booked a 7D6N package again this year. I will depart on 31Jul & stay at Magellen all the way (except Aug 4) coz the hotel is new comparing with other hotels (even Shangri-la) and it is close to the airport. Also, the flight schedule is definitly excellent this time, earlier morning onward flight (depart 0800)& return at 7pm by KA. On Aug 4, I will stay at Gayana Resort which is located at Gaya Island (website: www.gayana-resort.com). I booked it online myself & only at RMB255 (around HKD510) for a seaview room with breadfast, extra mattress for my son, ferry transfer, etc. I am planning to spend a day for rafting too.

Will let you know if Gayana Resort is good or not.

Where did you buy your package? I want to go in early/mid Aug. Wincastle just offered a promotion for 5D4N but the flight schedule is not good - same as your last year (arrive at 6:55 pm and depart at 12 noon). I'm looking for early flight in and late flight back. How much is your package?

I bought my "Sabah 5D4N" package from Wincastle as well, the price is almost $4600/adult and $2500/kid (share room with us, but price includes breakfast buffet). 1 day town tour and 1 day sabi island tour (with a lunch BBQ there). We will leave next week - very early departure 8.00am from HK and very late arrive at HK 10.30pm. We should have 5 full days to play. The very recent package offered from Wincastle - price is cheaper but the flight schedule is bad at all. You may check with Wincastle to see if you can get "early go/late back" flight with add't cost from them...........

Can you pls tell me if the Magellan Hotel provide tooth brush/tooth paste/shower gel/shampoo.....to their room guest??? Last time, my family had to buy our own "cleaning tool" there when we travelled Langkawi. Where did you eat for your lunch & dinner during your last Sabah trip??? Eat in hotel or visit food shops in town???

I have been booking my travel packages from the same agent (salesman) these 2-3 years (no matter he works with which travel agency). I know him based on business relationship. He can get me quick response, reliable and responsible.

Last year, he worked in Westmister coz my package price is a bit higher than others (I believe). But I was still happy and willing to book the package through him. My package price 5D4N at Mallegen Sutera Deluxe Seaview Rm was $4500/adult & $2500/child (only incl bf for adults, no transfer, no bf for child). But it doesn’t a matter coz Sutera is very close to the airport (10 mins ride) so the fare is very cheap. Also, my experience tells me most of the hotels in South East Asia do charge bf for child. My son is close to 9-years old and we never asked to pay for bf for him.

This year (July), my agent has changed to Hong Tai. That’s a good news for me coz I know Hong Tai’s air fare & package is lower than Westmister. Therefore & of course I asked him to arrange for me la. My package this year 7D5N at Mallegen Sutera Deluxe Garden View Rm is $5500/adult & $1980/child (also only cover bf for adults). I’ve checked that the only difference btw Deluxe Seaview & Garden is the “view”. In fact, you don’t have time to enjoy the “view”. Thus, I pick the Garden View this year. My agent told me the rooms at Sutera are very tight coz the choices for “sunshine & beach” is limited (most of the fans of Phuket, Krabi, Thai, Bali….change their targets to KK for safety purpose). I think the package price for this year is fair. The most important is I can enjoy excellent service from the agent: 1) I can double-book the flights 2) no deposit is required 3) he can book the best seats (on plane) for my family in advance 4) can pay after my trip

As I mentioned my package is 7D5N, I’ll stay at night at Gayana Resort. Don’t know it is good or not but worth to have a try coz only $510/night (incl bf, transfer, etc)

I couldn’t remember if Sutera provides a full set of “cleaning tool” but I guess yes. I use my own cleaning tools anyway.

Will tell you more after I finish my trip (Aug 6). Hope everybody have an enjoyable vacation!

你果真醒目, 記得我應剛回港. 你Aug 16去Sabah自由行定跟團去??? 住邊家Hotel???

好啦, 等我而家同你分享下我個Sabah trip資料:
- Magellen Hotel 非常正 resort feel. 設施新和齊. Breakfast buffet 多元化和好味. 但个人意見 Check In/Out counter, 女職員欠缺笑容. 其它員工都很有禮和充滿陽光笑容
- 有興趣+有時間, 你可游齊酒店內(Pacific Hotel, Magellen Hotel & Marina Club) 所有swimming pool.
- 儘量要求高層房. 我哋入住頂層, 個View好靚.
- 酒店只提供Bath shower & body lotion. 一定要帶足夠洗頭水+護髮素 (因游水/外出遊玩, 洗頭/冲身次數多咗 ). 另外當然要自備梳, 牙刷, 太陽油, 蚊怕水.
- 酒店有到市內Free Shuttle Bus Service, 但一小時一班. 如若想在Peak Hour (12.00pm lunch time, 6.00pm dinner time)搭shuttle bus外出, 記得早半日或以上向Hotel book 位.
- 市內<--->Hotel自行搭Taxi, standard price is 10RM/trip
- Hotel內 book 1日tour價錢較其它Travel Agency平少少. 我哋因小朋友細 (4.5yrs & 7.5yrs), 寧願比多少少跟Sabah Holiday, 貪tour guide沿途可廣東話介紹, D細佬易明D+易投入.
- 記得帶雨傘. 亞庇市每日都会落一陣大雨. 我哋頭4日, 每晚深夜落大雨. 最后1日, 上午下大雨, 中午出太陽.
- 亞庇市市中心海旁有一當地人街市 (Hotel Shuttle Bus 第3站落車). 旁邊一排小屋內有海味+手信可買, 要議價.
- 相比下, 係海王城吃seafood 比大排檔 (双天, 金宝和無招牌)較抵食, 較鮮味和多生猛海鮮選擇.
- 如不跟tour去外島玩. 可自行向Hotel book淨來回船飛 (約adult RM35/head, kid RM25/head). 島上有遊玩設施租售和食物可買. 我哋

ackage本身已包一日Sapi Island遊+BBQ Lunch. 我哋外島遊當日天氣very beautiful, 水特別清. 正!!!

- 若去睇螢火蟲/長鼻猴/鱷鱼仔, 夜晚会大風D. 記得幫Ｄ細佬帶件薄風褸. Ｄ細佬睇螢火蟲 (捉埋1~2只係手)玩得好開心.

- 山架啦既 Tanjun Aru Hotel 較Magellen 遠市中心和舊, 但此Hotel自己旁邊有好多食檔. 由下午3点左右開檔至午夜.
- 所有Local tour guide都認為山架啦既 Tanjun Aru Hotel 軟硬service都較Magellen 好

Thanks so much for sharing. Your information are extremely useful. Very good for my family who's first time visiting KK.

I bought the air+hotel 5D4N package. I also chose Magellan Sutera because it's newer than Shangrila Tanjung Aru. I booked the Garden view room as it's cheaper. Do I still need to request high floor?

Also since I will leave KK by 7:55 pm flight so will be checking out late. I have requested late check out but my agent said I won't know until I check in. Is the hotel very full? Do you think the hotel can honor my request?

It is my pleasure to share my experience with you.

Yes, I will recommend you to request higher floor room from Magellan if you can. Otherwise, when you are assigned to get the ground floor room, it may bring noisy & less privacy (swimming pool & restaurant are all in ground floor, people walk around there) to your room.

We took 7.55pm flight back to HK as well, and I succeeded to make our check out till 2.30pm. I suggest you to make your request once you arrive at hotel, as the hotel is really full.

In between stop 2 and stop 3 of Magellan Hotel free shuttle bus, there is a restaurant "味雅". It is very famous for their "Hoi Nam Chicken Rice" with attractive price, you can try it.

Traveling in K.K. is very easy, as it is a small town and people there can speak simple Cantonese & English.

Wish you a wonderful holiday in Sabah.

You checked out at 2:30 pm. How did you spent the 5.5 hours before 7:55 pm flight? I thought I could try to request late check out at 4 pm. Do you think it's possible?

I like Hoi Nam Chicken, so is it easy to get a taxi back to the hotel after I ate at 味雅?
