For 一蘭, there is a ticket machine outside the restaurant. I recall that there are pictures on the machines, so should be ok. Once you have your seat, they will pass you a form to fill in. Can request for English version. The seats are like "library setting", i.e. there are partitions between two seats. However, if you have friends sitting together, they will take out the partitions. Very nice and worthwhile go there even for site seeing.

However, I would really prefer 博多 more, there are 5 in 新宿. The price is much cheaper than 一蘭 and the taste is very good. Can request for a FREE noodle (净面）after you have finished the one that you ordered. Since I go with my son who likes eating 净面, the meal becomes very cheap.

If you like Japanese noodles, the 新横滨拉面博物馆 is worth going. The 熊本拉面 there is extremely good (need to order special pork which is more expensive than normal pork).
