My colleague worked here for 3 years then apply PR with company sponsor, he is over 45 years old, got his PR in 2 months.

I see... it seems that you have a secured job and got sponsorship, it will be faster to get the PR....

I ask so because I want to plan for the expenditure for the first few years before getting the PR.... the private insurance is so expensive and my son will need to go to school after one or two years....

我親人有sponsor, 等咗近一年.
我朋友是醫生, 約4個月.
小朋友頭5年小學, 其實可以讀state school, 講真和private school分別不大. 有些洲如QLD, TR讀state school是免費的.
我們買全家comprehensive 住院保險, 都要AUD300/月.

The employer said if my husband passed the license exam in Australiam, then they could sponsor him for PR or my husband can find sponsorship from private company easily.So, if I have applied 175 visa, can it change to sponsorship visa application to facilitate the process?

You can apply for different visas at the same time, but the final one approved will be the one you get.
That is, if you apply for TR, PR and sponsored PR at the same time, say, you get your PR approved first, you must cancel your other applications in writing, otherwise if you get TR as the last approved visa, your PR will be cancelled.

You can apply sponsored PR while waiting for 175, just need to pay the application fee $$$ and do the paper work all over, I guess.

我地當年就係驚TR會批得遲過PR, (因為當時未改例, PR都好快批出), 所以我地等我husband間公司幫佢申請TR, 批咗啦, 搞點哂所有野, 臨出發先online apply PR. 我地來到澳洲4個月左右, PR就批了.

後來澳洲開始有聲音話移民太多, 分薄資源云云, 政府於是在2010年收緊移民條件. 現在批出時間可能會有很大分別.

妳上移民局網址慢慢睇, 就會搵到有一頁話妳知各種visa大概等候時間. 申請父母過來, 現在都要等起碼10年........好慘......

我而家係TR(work visa 457), 等7月出新例(因已超年齡限制, 新例會extend 到50, 但無分), 到時就自己申請PR, 如果PR唔批, 就等做夠2年由公司sponsor申請, 不過到時個仔剛過18歲, 唔知會唔會有問題. 希望好似我同事咁順利, 2個月搞惦.

其實放棄香港的工作過澳洲係一個好大的決定, 希望你一切順利啦....

我剛收到回覆原來我老公係要考埋個license exam先可以apply PR, 所以我地要拿457visa去做野, 一年左右考牌, 之後再申請sponsor PR... , 希望一切也順利, 因為想拿咗PR才生第二個....

lodge the application just before he turns 18, they look at the age when you lodge the visa application, not when they grant you the visa. so should be ok.
