make a detail list for all the household stuff, then, identify which one send by post, which one buy in Australia and estimate the cost, then, you can compare which way is cheaper.
really need a detail list.

I have calculated that I have to send around 70 boxes by Post Office... and buy new things in Australia at around HKD$39000. The total cost will be around 70 x HKD333 + HKD39000 = HKD62310... not yet count the money for buying boxes and time cost travelling to post office for delivery and pick-up....
My husband suggested if we moved out our home and stay in hotel for one month in HK, then lend our property.... the rent can cover our stay in the one month stay in hotel... also we can ship a full container with all the things one month before we fly to australia.... the cost for full container is HKD61000 + AQIS HKD4000 + some new furniture bought in HK + washer and fridge bought for HK house for rent = HKD$76000
It's around HKD$15000 difference but we can have everything when we settle in a new place..... is it a good idea?
Many Thanks!! yes, I quote boxes sending for 30 boxes is just around 17000 to 18000 to Perth, but since my location is 4.5 hr drive from Perth, they will charge HKD40000-50000 for 30 boxes only!! Please keep me in touch. Many thanks
dear all, pls keep us informed of the best deal for shipment...it seems there are quite a few families moving downunder. Aint you upset by the rocket high exchange rate A$1 = HK$8+ !!!
to anyone who are using the converter for their elec appliances from HK. It is recommended to change to the local plug for appliances with high consumption (like oven). In HK, the elec current is 13A and the elec current is 10A in aust (there is 15A socket for kitchen appliances). The maxumum current for the converter is 10A, if you are using a 13A appliance with a 10A converter, it is possible that the converter will burn (that's what happen to me before). other elec appliances like TV, dvd player, computer, etc are working fine with the converter
i ship a 20ft container from hk to aust 18 mths ago and it costs HKD39,000 (door to door service, exclude insurance). for sending items via sea freight, it is charged by volume.

I somehow learnt from the radio that, people in Alice Springs will just buy second handed goods when they move there, and when they relocate to somewhere else, they just sell them out again. Not sure if you would like to do the same in Albany.
The cost of relocation is very high indeed! My friend relocated from NSW to QLD, cost her AUD2500 two years ago. And the cost of moving a piano from Perth to Brisbane was AUD500.

My friend moved from Geelong to Brisbane around 2 years ago, cost her AUD3000.... so if we move from WA to the East Coast, it would be very expensive....
