I had numerous bad experiences with foreign domestic helpers and agencies. The recent one was a Filipino terminated abt 3 months ago and the agency was Hundred Years in Mongkok. I strongly believed that they made use of local maid (which could not earn much commission) to do many dirty, terrible actions to get double pay (payment-in-lieu of notice) and agency fee. They totally sided on their clients, even brought children went downstairs to attend activity class complained that not only downstairs, needed few minutes which would make the maid feel tire. The maid's behaviour was very bad, made my home liked a war place everyday and said "you fire me la, you fire me la severely" Her attitude made me vomitted and worried. After she left, I found she stole all my new USBs which I bought from book fair at school. That helper worked at my home (5 months), all the consumption increases, water (increased 155%), electricity gas and electricity (more than 25%) + very very poor performance and behaviour. Often used Tangalo scolded my children and quarreled with them almost everydau. When my daughter took bath, she liked to switch off her light, took every chance to answer back severly (eg gave her note and brief her again to do jobs, cleaning, not do, gave her a note again to clean, shouting and asked why I wrote a note to ask her to do something. That RUBBISH AGENCY - Hundred Years still told me many good comments about that domestic helper. They said her ex-boss fried her after 2 months service because that woman (the employer was mad), When I complained to that agency, that woman still wanted to helper that Filipino to find another job.
Another agency Megsea? "Hoi Ying" in Mongkok gave unreal helper's information, took care of twins in Singapore and excellent in English, however, she knew nothing about Singapore, could not handle basic housework and not able to communicate in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Just like a piece of wood and almost use hot milk to feed my son.
One Filipino was mentally disordered but still passed their exam in the Philipines and came to Hong Kong to work. Bachelor degree in Finance but forgot all the subjects she learned except English. She admitted that she did not work as domestic helper in Philipines, gave fault information in the application form. She left my son in public area, then left my 3-year old daughter at home. Could not manage very simple work, not able to operate my washing machine (just on and off, but she turned the temperature to 90 or sometime could not dry the clothes. The clothes was totally we and dipping water like a WATERFALL still hung in my bedroom. She often worn clothes inside out. My son complained him used both her hands to press the back of his neck. When I called him, he was still crying. Afterward, I gave her one-month termination notice, she might forgot and gave me a resignation afterward.
Sometimes, even I know the maid stole my things (One I bought things from supermarket, but she sent home or sold) at unreasonable time. When my daughter stayed in hospital, 6 people told me that my 1.5 daughter fell down from the adult bed (as she took care of my daughter in hospital in day time as I need to back to office to work) 2 times, she did not comfort my daughter and just put her back on the bed. Those people in the same room told me that this reflected the maid's personality (she treated my daughter good in front of me) and the worse was that she did not tell me so I did not know what would be the problems after fell down. However, I still could not terminate her immediately. As I need to find a replacement and take leave to train up a new helper. Moreover, it is very pity that for young children to change their caregiver very often. I employed a part-time local helper to take care of my daughter instead which caused me great economic burden. Finally I terminated her almost after 1 year until I got my leave. What's the choice for my case?
One maid worked abt 1 month, said she needed to back home as his son's ear was breeding and could not stop. I believed her and hired a temp helper which caused me great trouble and extra money. After she backed to HK and worked no more than 1 month, often showed very angry and one time lied on the bed for 3 days, cried and wanted to back home. My god. I am a working mother, nobody help me to take care of my children. Under those worse circumstances, one time I really worked very tired as nobody could help me, even I got fever, I also need to take care of my child.
Our government, those political parties (esp those help foreign domestic helpers to claim the right to be permanent HK residents.
One helper got phone calls and SMS almost every minuite, her mobile phone rang from mid-nights (2 am, 3 am, 4 am, 5 am until early morning 6 am, 7 am), used internet, her notenook when I was not at home though I told her could not keep any notebook, netbook and USB at my home. When I just called her name (I wanted her to stop, we were in a hurry to school), she even shouted to me, shown long faces everyday. After she left I found she stole many things. Her behaviour might be the result as she knew I need somebody to take care of my children, otherwise I cannot go to work.
Too many! I am a working mother, even not a reasonable helper, I must keep her at home until I can find a replacement.
Nobody can help me!
When some (poor) people asked government to provide them with ... or some politicians biased certain kinds of people because of vote, any political parties can help our class of people?
Can our weak government review those unfair employment terms to employers of foreign domestic helpers?
Going by the law, these employers must notify the Manpower Ministry (MOM) if their maids become pregnant. Their work permits must be cancelled, and the maids sent home. Employers who fail to do this risk losing the $5,000 security deposit they parked with the ministry.
Under MOM regulations, those on work permits cannot become pregnant or give birth here unless they are married to Singapore citizens or permanent residents, with the Government’s permission.

Some helper provide the resume is not truth.
They without provide the cert. of education/ course..etc.
Also, so many helper without provide the past contract as reference or reference letter.
They just writing something on the application forms for us as resume. How we know which are truth? Which point are lying?
