Thanks for your comment. So would you recommend 養和 if one really wants to breastfeed? Was your bad experience related to breastfeeding or the sleeping pill you mentioned earlier?

St. Paul is in general good except my breastfeeding exp. My experience was similar to what you mentioned. Their nursery is on a separate floor from the ward (my doc said they are on the same floor now) and I could go there only during scheduled feeding sessions. Since I wanted to breastfeed so much, I told the nurse to call me when bb cried. But everytime when I went there, it was too late and he fell asleep again....Besides, the nurse just looked around during the feeding session and didn't really help me when they saw me trying so hard to wake bb up and eat. They just said my nipples are too flat and asked me to buy the nipple shield.....

I actually think about going to Adventist this time b/c they allow you to take your baby to the ward but my doctor prefers to go 養和, so I'm asking around for comments since I don't want to have the same experience in St. Paul.

You can take your baby to the ward to breastfeed at 養和 too. 養和 is good, but just that I had bad experience with the stupid nurse and I prefer the nurse to leave pills so that i can have more control. If they leave the painkillers to me, I can take them only when necessary. But at 養和, i don't have much flexibility in that unless i bring my own painkillers.
At 養和, you can go to feed your baby anytime you want.
The nurses at 養和 also told me that my nipples are too flat and some even asked me to give up and i did want to quit. Fortunately the nurse that I mentioned came and taught me the trick.
I like the nurse at St. paul's better as I feel that they are more sympathetic, but nurses at 養和 seems to be more professional. You will feel more secure at 養和 if you plan natural delivery.
But if this is your 2nd baby, it will be much easier to breastfeed. I encountered no problem breastfeeding my 2nd baby as 乳腺巳經通哂.
Did you Caesar at St. Paul's , or natural delivery? If natural delivery, how was it? Are the midwifes helpful?

My doc checked 養和 for me that they only allow baby to room-in in private ward. May be it's also ok for semi-private if nobody is sharing the room with you.

So you also stayed in St. Paul before? You're going to have the 3rd child?

Mine was normal delivery last time. I couldn't tell if the nurse/midwives are good since I only spent 2 hours from admission to hospital to delivery. I was already 7cm dilated when admitted. I only remembered they kept on asking me how I could stand the pain etc. etc....but my impression on the nurses during delivery are ok. I'm just not that satisfied with those in the nursery in terms of breastfeeding.

My girl, my sister and I went to St. Paul's when we were sick and we were hospitalized there before.

I still remember last time when I was hospitalizedd at St. paul's , the nurses and cleaning staff were good. I was still breastfeeding at that time and there was no chiller in semi-private room. So I asked the nurse to put my breast milk in their fridge and take it back when my husband comes to visit me to take home for my baby.
I am planning for my third and my period is late for five days..
養和's midwives are really good. I remember my dr. had not arrived even I was 10cm dilated

. You know how scared I was at that time

Then one of the midwives told me not to worry as they are all experienced midwives that they can help me deliver without the doctor's presence. Later I found out that there is a price for natural delivery by midwives only. The price is cheaper if you don't need doctor.

One interesting question is, if the doctor arrive after your baby come out, do you still need to pay him?

And my doctor also suggest me goto to HKSH, so your information is very helpful.
One more qustion is: my doctor charge for 10K, if I choose 2-person room instead of 4-person room, will the fee double?

I think depends on the doctor. I have c-section in HKSH, my doctor charge 18K for 4 pax room and 28K for 2 pax room.

my 'bad' doctor charges $12,000 for 4-person room and $20,000 for 2-person room 4 years ago.
I think every other fees, e.g. cotton balls, 吸盤, epidural, etc will be more expensive too. I calculated the difference in total should be about $25,000.
My 'bad' doctor did arrive in time and I still need to pay her.

雖然我哋住九龍, 但係唔想去九龍法國, 所以依家都係考慮養和.
