I went to penang Oct last year, and stayed in hard rock hotel, family room (around HK$16K/night, you can only order fm their official website), there is a garden with slice and swing in your room.
My daughter is sooooo happy to stay in this hotel. Also, I feel that the facilites for kids is quite good in here, as they provide bed cot, bottle sterilizer and bath tub too.

Yes, acutally the night market is just outside the shangri-la golden sand resort (start fm there), from hard rock to the end of the market is about 5-8 minutes walk.
Just opposite the hard rock hotel there is a mini-store, u can buy snacks, drinks, sim card etc in that store too, also a massage salon and a small restaurant.
The night market will be closed around 12 at night, even u walk around there at night, it's no problem at all, Penang is a very safe place. People in there are very nice.
