I think they prefer not to eat with us... more free this way.. ( I have 2 maids and they like to eat together in the kitchen and talk and relax) I think it's okay this way la.
My maid likes to eat with us but since she talks non-stop even when I talk to my husband, we then suggest her to take care of baby and then get some food and let her eat in the kitchen.
Actually it's my husband who feels uncomfortable as the maid likes tallking too much.
