12 is bigger than 6, version 3.12 is newer than 3.6. Version no. is a serial no. not a mathematical number with decimal place.

Or you may look it this way, Version 3.6 is Version 3 with 6 small changes, Version 3.12 is Version 3 with 12 small changes

Oh I see, thanks so much clpapa!
I thought 3.12 < 3.6

In fact it is the other way round.
So can I still use 3.6 with 6D or I have to de-install 3.6 and install 3.12?

You should always use the latest version.

Changes for Digital Photo Professional 3.12.52 Updater for Windows;

- Supports images taken with EOS 6D.
- Supports new lens (EF24-70mm F4L IS USM).
- Supports read-in of Picture Style files (.pf3) created in Picture Style Editor 1.12.2 and later.
- Corrects shooting date error in other manufacturer`s image files when sent to Easy-PhotoPrintEX from Digital Photo Professional via plug-in print.

If you already installed version 3.6 you may use the 3.12.52 Updater for Windows
