I know a jeweller very well, and several years ago I considered buying a 4 ct diamond and asked her for advice. She told me not to buy as diamonds are not good for preserving value. She said with the same amount of money, she would use as down payment to buy property instead. She told me this although she could have made some money from me as I would have asked her to help me find the stone.
