Re: Any recommended ski field good for 4 yrs old?

Hi Oasismcmug,
No, I never been to 苗場. For X'mas, is busy time for my work because for the year end. In fact, I hv think about to go to ski in Xmas but my boss not allowed me to take holiday. :-(
Yes, I think we hv lot of common interest as least we love travel specially for Europe. . My girls is study K2 now and Im a working mom and living in HK side. How about u?
Sorry, I don't know Japanese, hence, when I check in Japanese web site, I just guess or translate. By the way, do u get my mail. As u can see I wl via Tokyo to Sapporo as I also plan to bring my kids to Disney. Any comment for my iten?
For the weather, I think it should be ok, because when I ski in Nesiko, I saw a lot of small kids ski there too. The only thing is u hv enough protection of the clothes for kids.
For snow quality, I think Neskio is the best because of the "owder Snow", when u fell down, u don't feel much painful.(this is my experience) For the air ticket, this is just an idea fm my travel agent. I think more or less is the same?

Re: Any recommended ski field good for 4 yrs old?

Incredible,

I never been to Club Med Saharo, hence, no idea. For Rusutsu, I've been there when I join tour to Sapporo many years ago. I only know that the ski field is crowed of people and the hotel rate is very expenesive. In fact, it just like a ski resort and it hv a big shopping mall.
I plan to bring my kids to Rusutsu for 1 day in my next ski trip

I just find out from Yahoo that Naeba is 苗場. Do you have any holiday during Christmas?
Yes, it seems like we have a lot in common as both of our daughters are nearly 4 and it would be their first time to ski. In fact, both my husby and I also love Japanese food very much. I wonder whether we have any other things in common?
Can you read Japanese as I realized there is quite a lot of informations that can be search from yahoo Japan regarding 苗場, but I can not read it. Too bad!Well, may be I can use the translator from the web and read it slowly. I wonder whether they have Australian coach there as well? (you know this is very important) You know the air ticket is so much cheaper if we fly to Tokyo instead. We can even go to Disney land afterwards. I can stay back in Tokyo just in case if my daughter can not stand the cold weather or if she got sick. My agent even said there is hotel that is right in the ski field and they used to book it for their clients. Of course he said 二世古 is almost the most famous ski field in Japan. I also do not know the snow quality in 苗場 as dry snow for skiing is very important. I afraid Tokyo will never be as cold as Sapporo and hence 苗場may have wet snow which is not good at all .
Yes, the price is for tickets only and it is a prelimary quote from Cathay. By the way, what CNY stands for? He said he can find out more once we have made up our mind where and some more packages may come as time is still young now.
Thanks for your iten and I will check my email. Thank you very much!

i am happy to see that someone talks about ski here! My husband and I love to play snowboard (we played ski previously). Last Feb, we went to Niseko. it is really a good place for ski and snowboard, powder snow and wide tracks. different tracks for different people! I stayed in Prince, it has good facilities.
I plan to go with my daughter in Feb/March 07 also. still on waitlist for asiamiles tickets..... this year I am late to book the tickets.
when will you go ? do you if any school in Niseko/sapporo?

Hi Rachelmummy,

It's great to hear that there is quite a lot of people love ski/snowborad here. I only ski and never play snowboard. For Niseko, I only stay in Ashiri hotel but I've been to Prince for Dinner. It's a nice hotel.
I also plan to ski in Feb 07 CNY and also redemme ticket fm AsiaMiles but only to & return HK - Tokyo. As the direct flight from HK - Sapporo is full and they not allowed to put me on waitlist. My schedule is:
15/2 - HK to Sapporo via Tokyo
16/2 -Sapporo to Niseko
17 - 19/2 - Ski in Niseko or plan 1 day for sightseeing
20/2 - Niseko to Sapporo
21/2 - Sapporo to Tokyo
22/2 - Disney
23/2 - Tokyo to HK
This is my itinerary.
I also plan to find coach for my kids to learn ski.
How about u?
Let see whether we can join together.

Re: Any recommended ski field good for 4 yrs old?

It is so good that you all guys are going to ski in Feb. :-(
I t would really save a lot of time in searching for information of skiing in Japan as TszWing has already been there and she is so experied. I also went to the website that the chan-wai yee mentioned but I could not really find any coaching information in Naeba. However, they did mentioned Naeba is one of the ski field recommended for family and kids. However, the charges such as ski equipment rental and ski pass etc etc seem to be a bit more expensive than what was quotated by TszWing from Niseko.
TszWing, I wonder if you know how I can find out whether there is any Australian coaching in Naeba? Do you think that Japanese mix know whether their company have branch office in Naeba as well or does any mommy knows?
TszWing : I think your iten. is good but does it really take one day to travel from Niseko to Sapporo? I think you can consider of going to 上野動物園 in Tokyo in addition to Disney. You know just make the most of your trip. It is just next to the JR station and my daughter loves going to the zoo in Japan. (you know we have no zoo in Hong Kong) I usually visit two zoo in each Japan trip. I went to both 上野動物園 and 多摩動物公園 in my last trip in Tokyo.

Re: Any recommended ski field good for 4 yrs old?

Oasismcmug,
No, I'm not expertize for ski as I just only enjoy ski and hot spring.
For the Australian coach, what I know that is they only hv office in Niseko and they don't hv branch office in Naeba. Here is the web site for the Aust. Coach. NAC CENTRE.
For my iten, actually my details planning is:
16/2 - Morning -Sapporo to Niseko by train or bus, then ski in afternoom or let the children play in ski field
17 - 19/2 - Ski in Niseko or plan 1 day for sightseeing
20/2 - Moring Niseko to Sapporo by train or bus
Pm - sightseeing, shopping.
21/2 - Moring flight fm Sapporo to Tokyo -
Pm - sightseeing in Tokyo
My kids didn't so enjoy to go to zoo but I plan to bring her to 上野動物園 in this Ski trip.
For the coach price, sorry I hv made a mistake, after double check, for a group of 5 person, approx is$800 - $900/day.
Try yr best to take holiday in CNY or may b postpone yr x'mas holiday to CNY. Then, we can join together, right.

Rachelmummy,

Yes, u are right, it is quite time consuming. H/ever, I cannot redemme direct flight. Anyway, my girls love to go to Disney, then, it's ok.
I never been to 白馬 but I know that it is a good area to ski. As this is my girl's 1st time ski, hence, I would pefer to go a ski field(Niseko) that I familiar and easy to manage specially for my naughty girl.

Re: Any recommended ski field good for 4 yrs old?

I also want to take direct flgiht, but no choice.
I can only take my holiday in CNY as my girls already in K2 and her school holiday start at 15 Feb and Bk to school on 26 Feb. Hence no choice to take at Early March.
Well, my girl is only 3yr 10months+, really more or less the same as yr girl.
I try to make a group of family (4 - 5 groups) to ski together as it wl b more easy and fun for my girl to girl to learn ski. Now I'm trying hard to organize this group. Wl u join?

Re: Any recommended ski field good for 4 yrs old?

hello Rachelmommy,
I know Tzw Wing go to Sapporo because she knows it there and she has been there. Hence, she is going even she needs to take another flight from Tokyo to Sapporo. In consideration of the time travel and the cost difference for air ticket to Naeba and Sapporo, it seems like Naeba is a better choice. However, it seems like you are also more keen to Sapporo even there may not have any direct flight from HK to Sapporo. Is it because the facilities, skiing condition and etc etc of Naeba is really not good and it is not even comparable to Sapporo? I am tending to book Naeba and I hope I know the real situation before I make a wrong step.
Besides, it seems like everyone tend to go during CNY. Does anyone know whether the snow or skiing condition is good enough in Mid December. Will it be cold enough in Naeba? Thick and powdery snow?
Besides, my daughter is 3 yrs and 6 months old. Very close to the age of you two daughters, although she is only in K1.

my daughter also studies in K2 now! the schedule is more tight as what you said. What I will do ....is that make more preparation in CNY. Since we have reserved 3 different dates, so we cannot reserve any more period now.

My experience in 04, we served similar dates on waitlist and informed the seats on Nov/Dec. If not, I will buy from CP holiday...see if I am lucky or not!

I went to Rusutsu in 05 and Niseko in 06. I love Niseko more........large tracks, different levels and more challenage I think. I've never been to Naeba before.
Snowing starts usually in Mid-Dec, from north to south. I remember in mid Dec/2004, Mr. Alan Tam went Niseko with Alan Tam's club. There was no snow in the ski-park but the next day, snowing started. This story was printed in magazine!!!

So it's difficult to tell whether powder snow in Naeba or not in mid-Dec....you 've better search more!

Since the cash tickets to sapporo is much more expensive than tokyo, i use asiamile to exchange!
if I really cannot get tickets to sapporo, I will go to Naeba also.... there are many airlines to tokyo...no no need to hurry!

Re: Any recommended ski field good for 4 yrs old?

Hi oasismcmug,

How about yr booking schedule, did you decide to go to Naeba? How about yr plan or itn.
For the skiing condition, it is very difficult to say right now. I think you have to check the snowing condition in Japan regularly. And it is safer to start yr ski holiday in X'mas time as it should hv snow in that period.
How many people u wl go for yr ski holiday?

For powder snow, I think u can only find in Sapporo I/O Naeba.
Ny girls is just 4.5 months older then yours but she already in K2. Where she study for K1?
