Magellen Sutera is very good & convenient. You must join the island tour (try the island hopping w/ BBQ lunch). Remember to get more bread on that morning coz a lot of fish there waiting for your feeding, hehe. Only 20mins journey by taking speedboat from the pier of Sutera to the island. It is very exciting but save coz you'll require to take on the lifeguard. Snokering is must-do there. You can ask for a lifeguard for your girl to play save. I'd also recommend you to bring your own snokering equipment with you (buy from Toys R Us will do - cheaper, no need the professional one). Playing 降落傘is a wonderful experience. My son was very afraid at the beginning, even wanna escape from the boat, he enjoyed a lot after 1 mins when he was in the sky. You can give your camera to the crew, they will take some pictures for you (free of charge). I'll suggest you to take the island trip on the 2nd day coz there are not many activities in KK. You may wanna visit the islands again during your trip if you enjoy feeding fish, sun & beach, etc.

I never think about to go 神山公園 coz I can't wake up too early. I joined the 睇長鼻馬騮/螢火蟲 tour on my first KK visit - a bit boring. Unless you enjoy natural life a lot otherwise not recommend to go. Instead, I'd highly recommend you to join the half day Level 2 Raftiing (they won't allow you to join Level 3 coz you are with a kid). It is an exciting & funny activity. Remember to put on the sun block & wear swimming customs coz you'll be in all wet.

In summary, you have to remember to get towels from the hotel for joiniing those "wetting" activities (island trips, rafting, etc) coz the service providers will not provide towels or shampoo/soap, etc to you.

Do try the seafood at 海龍城, very delicious & value for money (just 5-10mins by taxi from Magellen).

Our family had also been Sabah at Nexus Resort from 12 Jul - 16 Jul. It is a memorial and wonderful trip.

Regarding snokering equipment, do you mean that we (3 of us) need to bring our own. It's quite expensive in GigaSport. Perhaps I will check it up in ToyRUs.
Also, is it safe to leave all personal belongings on the beach while taking part in the water activities ?

Just an update, my Sabah package is confirmed. I booked it through Morning Star.

Special thanks to 大眼仔mama. I book Gayana through Wincastle. I tried to book it online by myself, price is almost the same. With Wincastle, round trip ferry transfer is included. It costs almost H$1000 per night, so expensive!!!

My friend told me that we can play the 一級激流. My kids are only 4 and 5. I only heard of 二級 and 三級, any comment?

coz when i booked STAR via a small agent, the response was fully book for Aug 1-4, and i am now trying Magellan Hotel.

I book Magellan, our trip is from 24 to 29 Aug. We need almost one week's time for the agent to confirm the hotel room. You may try Wincastxx, seems that they're quite well known for Sabah package. However I found their price is more expensive than Morning Star, so I go for Morning Star.

Anyway, wish you luck.

我們也是剛回來的一群, 我們有玩激流, 因為孩子小不批准玩三級, 於是兵分二路, 一批玩二級, 另一批玩三級o
二級真的不危險, 我船有我, my husband, 我家姐, 三個孩子 (9歲,9歲 & 7 歲)&船長(女性), 全程可以擺post影相, 中途可以跳河游泳(我們全部也有下, 亞細仔唔識游, 佢比爸爸捉落水), 有時仲悶到與其他船玩潑水, 當然有時會快小小o
Anyway,當地導遊一定會話你知小朋友玩唔玩得o
By the way, 我見鄰船有個鬼仔好細o下, 全程坐中間o
回來後見團友三級D相, D 浪真係過頭, 唔怪得導遊唔比小朋友們玩三級啦o
不過真係無見過一級激流, 希望幫到你o

Thanks for your information, that's very useful.

With kids, I never think of playing 激流. However my husband wants to try. Now it seems that we still have chance to play it.

Do you mean the staff will tell me whether my kids are allowed to play when I book the 激流 in the counter? We go by ourselves, so we won't have a 當地導遊.

How about thier life jacket? Is it fit for kids? Or they just put on adults one? Is it necessary to buy the life jackets for my kids in Hong Kong?

1. 他們要confirm 小朋友的高度 (我想是教練要知), 再confirm 一下天氣 (水流急唔急&水位), then 他們就不淮小朋友報名三級啦o
2. 有 - 他們有小孩life jacket, 我們也有自己的, 但他們不淮我們用, 一定要用他們的, 他們也有小朋友船"長", 我覺得係比亞仔做樣用, 佢地都無力扒o

I assume that you will keep all the important things into the save of your room the first thing upon your arrival (passport, air tickets, mobile phone, HK dollars, etc). No need to bring too much money when joining the island trip. I'd suggest you buy a 斜"咩"防水隨身小袋, just put some RM$ inside. Or, if your husband's swimming shorts has a zip bag, just bring a small size plastic 拉鏈密實袋 & put the money inside (have a test 1st). Other clothes & towels just put into the large bag & leave it on the beach (I even left the digital camera there). The hotel will have staff to accompany the guest to the island. Last time, the staff kindly offered to look after my belongings so that I could enjoy my activities without worries. BTW, remember to bring a "waterproved" camera coz you'll spend most of the time in the sea.

Wow, the room rate of Gayana Resort really raises a lot (double price of last year). Remember to check the ferry schedule & require a seafacomg villa when check in (so don't arrive there too late).

For the rafting, level 2 is ok for small kids. Max 6 persons in a boat. We were luckily to have our own boat last time, no need share with others. They will take pictures for you during your journey. So be smart la, look at the camera & smile when they get you the hint. Again, remember to bring bath soap, shampoo & towels & changing clothes for the rafting. They will provide you a large bag to put all your belongings inside before you get on the boat. Also, better not to wear flip-flog but pastic shoes if possible for those "water activities", say the popular one "Crocs" is a good choice.

1) Of course you can bring a water-proof camera with you. I brought it myself last time as well. The staff there will only take 1-2 photos for each boat. As my hubby, my son & I are very active type, we swam & played body rafting during the journey. I could take more pictures with my own camera.

2) After the rafting, you will walk up the hill to reach the changing rooms & restaurant. While you enjoy the lunch, the staff will handle the photos with computer. You will check your photo(s) on the screen. If you wanna buy it, they will print it out for you. Check the photos as soon as you can coz there will be a long queue for the photo printing (sorry, I forgot the price). After you finish your lunch & get the photos, you still need to walk up the upper part of the hill to reach the main street. Your coach will be waiting you there. They'll categorize the passengers according to their hotel locations. All the vehicles are vans. Therefore, don't arrive too late or you'll ask to squeeze into a 2-seated with 3 persons.

3) If you don't mind 焗住對腳, wear whatever you like. I suggested you to wear shoes as some stones/rocks under the sea are very slippery & some are sharp. To protect your feet, you better wear shoes/sandles for any island trip or rafting. Flip-flog is too easy to loose out from the feet, very trouble ah! You need to keep chasing the flip-flog while playing. If it is not a one-off sun & beach trip for you, why don't you buy a pair of plastic sandles.

Agree with 大眼仔mama. Level 2 rafting cannot be missed cos we'd a lot of fun in playing this exciting activity!! It's safe for kids too!! My son (aged 5) not only jumped into the river, but also sat at the front of the boat (with his legs hanged outside)!!

I did not bring water-proof camera so I had to buy from them the rafting photos at RM50 (for 4 x 4R photos).

Quality is vv good.. though quite expensive!!
