if I buy 善古靈 in drug shop, how much is it for 4 and 5 mg? I have 2 kids, one is 4 year and one is 8 years old, dr say they both need it. Very expensive in his clinic.
Or any mamis know which dr can give patients at a lower price for this drug?

你好, 我個女2歲半, 經常咳和有"譚", 中"酉"doctor都睇過, 上次睇"酉"doctor 話佢係氣管炎與氣管敏感之間, 食過青蛙仔幾日仲有咳, 請問要食幾耐先okay 和同埋係唔係"色"合佢食, 今日仲有發燒, 點算呢??

另外,我住tko, 請問有沒有好doctor 建議, 謝謝

Does it needs prescription to buy? If I ask the doctor to give me prescription to buy and not take any medicine from his clinic, do I need to pay him? And if I don't want to pay him for prescription and then he refuses to write me prescription, what should I do?

Dear Dr Yonex:

My daughter has been coughing for over 2 weeks. Yesterday, the doctor prescribed 善古寧 for her and advised to take for 1-2 months.

May I know if she really needs to take such a long time even the situation has been improved?

And will she become dependant on this medicine?

After stop dosage, will the coughing come again?

Please advise.

Ans.: Yes, 4~8 weeks is not "a long time". Prophylactic med works slowly and not as panadol for fever as acute treatment! Do believe in health profession, he is on your side, trying to help you. Although you may think hat we are just a little bit more learnt in medicine, we are practising evidence-based medicine!

And will she become dependant on this medicine?
Ans.: There are two kinds of dependance; 1) Physical dep. and 2) Psychological dep.. Neither is significant in Singulair.
After stop dosage, will the coughing come again?
Ans.: Possible. some will not. some may cough due to allergic bronchus again, say e.g. 6 months later. If it's the case, do you think the med is useful? Or, still not good enough? Or, "useless".
Think about it! Parent(s) can decide whether accept the treatment or not. But don't blame others afterward!

請問你是否一位醫生? 還是一位媽媽 ?

本人住在粉嶺, 小兒由出生至今 (3 year old ), 都是皮膚很 dry 及有濕疹.
近月持續有乾咳, 每次起床 , 不論是午睡 or 晨早起床 ,午夜睡着時, 都是不停地乾咳。近六天來,斷斷續續 發燒 ( 99 至 102 度) 吃了退燒药 , 便没事. 常常没精打采.

已看了很多次醫生 , 連 抗生素都食完,還是這樣子, 冇晒胃口食野 , 皮氣很差 ,

請問有冇醫好這 case , 有冇本區專醫好這case 的醫生. 请幫幫忙碌!

1. neofed
2. uniramine
3. ventolin
4. sudafed
5. piriton
6. benadryl
7. mucospect
8. celesmine
9. promethazine
10. diprophyllin

When have fever, sometimes they take antibiotics.
Now they are also inhaling Seretide Lite (but I am not persistent as it has steroid?!?). The doctor said they do not have asthma yet, but

2.5 years old -- still coughing esp at night, sometimes sounds like have phlegm. The nose is clogged at night

11 months old -- still coughing often with phlegm

Q1. I forgot the term you used before -- would these medication have no further effect for my kids as they have been taking on-and-off close to 5 months now
Ans.: Tachyphylaxis.

Q2. Is Singulair something they can try?
Ans.Yes.

Q3. Do you have a good doc to recommend? (Our doc is nice, but we have to spend 3-4 hours for each visit including wait time and travelling). We live in Tsuen Wan...
Ans.: Check PM, see if Dr. location is OK for U.

Q4. Should I continue with Seretide Lite, especially for my 11 months old - so young?
Ans.: Yes, if he can coordinate in taking it.

Q5. Do the above medicine have adverse effects on growth? It seems my older boy stopped growing in height since he has been on these medicine for 5 months.... Not sure if related...
Ans.: No, I do not think so.
Q6. Could you PM me your article on dustmites? My kids also has eczema
Ans.: OK

Q7. My 2.5 years complaines of bites at night... can I use the BENZYL BENZOATE to wash the bedsheets as well?
Ans.: House dust mite does not bite, but it's poo-poo cause allergy.
