Hi,

I know that some of you have chosen to stay at Shangri-la rasa ria for 2 nights and Magellen Sutera for another 2 nights.

1. How long should it take from 1 hotel transfer to another hotel? By taxi? or by what means of transportation?

2. Will you recommend to do so? Will it be wasting much time?

3. What's the price different between staying in the same hotel for 4 nights and split into 2 hotels?

4. Which travel agency is the cheapest?

Not a bad choice to stay these two hotels. I guess you have to take at least 45mins from one hotel to the other by taxi.

You may enjoy the beach and facilites inside Shangri-la rasa ria. The sun-set was so beautiful by riding a horse.

As Magellen Sutera is located in down town, it will save your time for travelling if you join the local tour such as rafting or fire-flies seeing in this hotel.

Once you reach the hotel, you have to book the activities immediatley. Maybe you can try to reserve places via internet in advance.

I booked the island hopping tour with Island Ferry; fireflies & rafting with Wincastle - this is more expensive but I didn't want to walk back to the agents! I think fireflies is not that good but my husband said it had "Amazon feel". On our way to play river rafting, my husband "poured cold water" to me by saying that it's gonna be a lot rougher than "raging river" in Ocean Park. When we saw the scenic view of the river, we all wow-ed. River rafting is really the highest moment in our trip. We took 2 hours & 1.5hours to these 2 trips respectively. But I remember some people saying we had to take a local train to rafting, right? Anyway, who cares as it's better.

Have u arranged your tickets already? You'd better check now as it can be quite full during summer. Whereabout in the U.S.? I'm only going to the west coast this time.

I went river rafting in Indonesia many years ago, really exciting, but dare not go rafting with my 4 yr old boy this time.

I will go to LA, not sure if I'll go to SF. No agent ah. I got my tickets using Asiamiles. Now I am in trouble bcos my maid just told me that she wanted to go back to the Philippines to get married & come back to work for me - that means I have to bring my young daughter as well. My hubby is going to kill me!
No, I left my daughter with a baby sitter at the Kids Club cos rafting is for 5yo & above only. My husband complained that I dared to leave my girl to a stranger, but I didn't want to give up rafting for my boy bcos of his baby sister. My girl survived - no bruises, I gave her a pack of candies!

There were quite a few pretty mums, I don't know who u are! So u went out to town quite a lot. We didn't, just once for seafood which we didn't enjoy, & once on the last day before coming back to HK. My husband bought a few things from Nike & Adidas there, he said HK didn't have those items!

It need to take 45 mins for transfer hotel by taxi? And how much is the taxi fare?

Any activities are suitable for us together with a 1.5 years old boy?

甘多位媽咪終於睇哂甘多版, 我plan 5月尾去, 想問下如果join local tour去紅樹林, 個guide講中文定英文呢?? 沙巴附近有冇massage/spa平靚正?? 仲有我打算住Shangri-La's Rasa Ria, 附近有冇supermarket?? 因我唔想帶太多野, 如可以可否去到才買蒸餾水/鮮奶/尿片等日用品??
仲有邊度仲可揾到多d資料, 因我第一次去沙巴, 想揾多d資料, 我只係睇e度, 同手上有本{{蘇.Malay}}, 我自遊行怕唔夠料, 所以以備不時之需, 唔好意思甘多問題thanks

我剛剛沙巴回來, stay 3n Magellen, 2n Rasa Ria.
酒店 staff 好好,見我1家4口幫我 call 小型 van 坐得好舒服 同 taxi 一樣價-馬幣80,我由 Rasa Ria 出機場都 call 返佢,一樣馬幣80.
我囡囡20個月大,只係喺酒店 swimming o.k,我哋睇螢火蟲,其他活動佢都唔知發生咩事.
Rasa Ria's kid club d 活動由4歲起,值得一提是逢 Saturday, Sunday有1 part係免費騎馬,有1 part 可以入自然生態區餵魚,每日每小時都有好多活動,我仔仔都玩咗半日.

I just came back from Sabah yesterday. I stayed in STAR and we loved this resort very much. Our room had a sitting cum dinning room (of course, a bedroom) and a big balcony!!!
The weather is hot after 9am and only 2 showers at night during our trip.
We only joined local tour to see the probocsis monkey (ie. long nose monkey), fireflies etc. If u joined this tour, please remember to bring a torch as u needed to walk some roads without adequate lightling. Raincoat is highly recommended for this trip especially when there is raining in cruise (of course, umbrella is also useful when we are on land).
For eating, Little Italy is very good. We had lunch there and only about $55 RM.
For island tour, I don't recommend to join any local tour. The cost is about $148 RM per adult for 2 islands. A BBQ lunch is included but I feel hot in the island & I don't want to eat BBQ under such hot weather and on a beach. Therefore, we only buy return tickets to island (only $40RM for adult and $20RM for kids). However, u need to pay for beach mat, snokels and mask separately. We went to Mamutik Island and we like it very much. We went there 2 mornings. Sand is white and water is clear. Fishes would appear if u put bread in water.....

I think sport shoes is good enough to see the monkey & fireflies. But, I strongly recommend you to bring raincoat for the child. As the speedboat moves fast in the river, together with the rain, the child would get wet and cold easily. Liftjacket would be provided by the tour company & we stayed in the speedboat for 2 hours. As my child is a boy, I bring an empty bottle for him to 'liu liu'. Insect and mosquito are not frequent. Our guide is Cantonese speaking. We joined Sabah Holiday & there is a counter in STAR and they gave me 10% discount.
For this tour, it is difficult to see the monkey as they are usually far away from us (if possible, you can bring a binocular with u). Also, it is difficult to see crocodile as they always sink in the river. However, fiireflies are okay la.... & the sunset is so beautiful.
After this tour, a simple dinner would be arranged in a hut. You are better to bring some drinks for your child instead of drinking their water or drink. I lived in downtown (STAR), the coach arrived my hotel at 9:40pm. However, if u live out of downtown (eg. Nexus), I think u arrive the hotel at 11pm!

For Little Italy, the pasta is handmade so it is yummy and the pizza & soup are very good. I don't have exact address. It is located on G/F of Hotel Capital in the downtown (I think you can tell the taxi driver to go there). After u arrive the airport, u can get some information of Sabah, please check this out.

Spa and massage are not popular in Sabah. I think Thailand is better.

From my experience, the Malaysia's people who are 'looked like' Chinese could speak Cantonese.

Unlike Thailand, it is difficult to find travel informaiton of Sabah. I only seached some information from Blog in the internet. If u like, I could forward my itenary to u for reference.

I take Dragon Airline to Sabah last Friday. It is a small plane. Only 3 seats on each side of the plane. It departs at 0805am & arrives KK at 1110am.

However, for MA, it departs at 2 or 3pm (I forgot) and arrives KK at 6 or 7pm. I think it is too late especially if u live in a remote hotel/resort.

The only problem to take KA is 'wake up very early'.
