my new maid’s visa was on 15 Jan 07 出左 and my agent was directly brought the visa to Philip around date of 18 Jan 07. The agent said she might be come to HK on 10 Feb.
{For me if visa released on 15/1 but the maid only can on Feb 10 is a bit late. Because all the Phil. Agents knowing that must attend the exam before the maid leave HK this policy is confirmed by End of December, then after the date all of the Phil Agents already arrange the maids for schedule of the exam & training, that mean should not be delay so long.
I think your maid can come in Feb 10, because that it more than enough time for arrange the exam & cert released. But be sure keep on chasing your Agent for the maid arrival}
She has tendered her resignation to be released straight after CNY hols (20th). If I ask her to leave say 16th but pay her upto the 20th, do I have to pay for outside accomodation for her during those days?

{It's depend on you, usually we will give on the last day but not all. Some of the employers will give them earlier than the release date, because with reference letter will make them easy to find new employer}

{I had just processed 2 maids who had experience in HK before. There is not requirement for the exam. However, they need to apply for exemption and pay charges for the required certificates.}
If my maid drop something outside the window and hurt somebody, is it her or my responsibility (only when she is at home)?
{Both maid(刑事) and employer(民事/賠償) will be responsible. You can buy 3rd party insurance policy if you have worries about this. 家居保險內通常會包第3者意外}

A bit late的原回會否因為我和這個工人達成僱傭合約的日子是around 10 December2006, so it lead her to prepare the exam later. 以上解釋是否合理呢？其實，如果你是agent. When will she come to HK at the earliest and reasonable date? 我真的很急用這個工人，而我個agent 是知的，So, I must make sure the employment knowledge before on chasing the agent.

{If you are my customer, I will give you the Best Customer Award! You don't have to consider so much about the agent work. If the agent is professional enough, they will just do the best within their control to follow your required schedule for your maid arrival. If not, there have to be reasonable explaination. One month after release of visa is definately too long. Give you an example of my 2 recent customers schedule as reference:
Employer 1: Confirmed Job on 8 Dec, Visa released on 17 Jan, Arrived HK on 26 Jan.
Employer 2: Confirmed Job on 9 Dec, Visa released on 16 Jan, Arrived HK on 26 Jan.}

其實，我在10/2006已找到一位心目中的maid via the agent. And, we expected her to come HK on 31 Dec 2006.
Our planning is perfect when our old maid leave then the new come. But, we didn’t think so, the new maid rejected to come HK in according her personal reason at the beginning of December. Even our contact was signed, but the agent said we should not request her to come our home. It is because she may induce us to fire her in using some methods. As a result, we terminated the contact and informed immigration immediately.
Then, we urgently chose present maid. Really bad luck, Philip suddenly changed policy for the requisition of the maid examination. We are continuing to wait………………….
Have you seen the situation the maid didn’t come to HK? In fact, should we consistently employ her? What action can we do if the maid don’t want to come.

I just called the agent. He replied our maid will arrive on the 10th. If I don’t call the agent, I don’t know when I will know the maid's arriving date.
I want to buy QBE plan 家傭綜合保險 via a agent (I will PM to you the agent name). Do you know the agent is whether reiable? I don't want to spent too much time to search 家傭綜合保險. Above agent is just introduce from our BK mum.
Have you heard QBE's plan? Now, I see the plan is $975 for 2 years ($200 clinical expense per visit). Is the QBE company okay?
I don't think 道亨保險, because such plan is increased to $880 fpr 2 years but just claim $150 clinical exp per visit.

I am going to give birth to my 1st baby by the end of this month. I never hire any domestic helper before. I interviewed a Filipino who has 2 children last Sunday. She gave me a pleasant impression. Could you give me some tips regarding the following questions:-
1. She claimed that she had worked in Abu Dhabi for 3 years and the reason for leaving was finishing contract. Do you know if the standard contract period in Abu Dhabi is for 3 years?
2. She is now working in HK and her 2-yr contract will end in beginning of March 07. She provided me the full address and mobile phone no. of her employer and a good reference letter. The 1st time that I called her employer, she said she was having lunch and the environment was so noisy that she could not hear me. She asked me to call her an hour later and I did so. Her employer confirmed that she felt satisfactory with her performance and the reason for not renewing the contract is that she would take care of the 2 children by herself. I heard that some agent would get someone to pretend to be the employer of the domestic helper so as to give good reference. In my case, do you think that I should write to her employer by letter for confirmation of the reference once again?
3. I know that it normally takes 3-4 weeks to finish the application with the Immigration Department. Can I request for faster approval because I am in need of the worker to look after my new born baby?
It sounds like you are in a hurry to hire a helper, so my advice may seem crazy to you. I suggest you "slow down". You are hiring someone to take care of the most precious person in your life. Take care!
You have a careful mind is good, but if someone is would like to cheat you, they will have their "perfected-way" to let you trust on it. How can you find this domestic helper, just asking the referral person and get some advice.
^_^ At my view point, a domestic helper with no working aboard experience will be more pure but you need to have patient for her to get alone with new environment. For the experienced helpers, they are really smart but is it the main requirement that you need?
Before hiring anyone, think about what expection you would like to have. The most important thing i concern is the personality.
