Never heard about 動漫節, what can we see in 動漫節 ?
How much for the ticket ?
TTM,
There is a Lego area, sells pick-a-brick Lego, rare in HK. Also 10 scenes of HK / buildings built with Lego (a competition).
Hasbro also has an area, sells Transformers.
The rest are all teenager stuff, not too suitable for piglet and I. We just went to these 2 places ja.
Tickets are $25@, 1 adult can bring 1 kid aged below 11y. There is a parent-child special passage for parent + child below 11y, = the exit side, so when all the teenagers are queueing for getting in, we just walk in like a breeze. :lol
ie Piglet is my fast pass. :lol

RMM,
Welcome back! See, I told u. You would love the trip to Hokkaido & get addicted to "zhi-yau-hang" like me!
Dear all,
I just got back from a very unforgetable trip - 4d/3n Star Cruise Virgo to Sanya & Halong Bay in Vietnam. We were caught by the typhoon & Halong Bay was cancelled. Whilst I thought we would head back to HK quickly, we stayed at Sea! My o my, my hubby & I couldn't sleep at all thinking if our ship would sink! Banging by the waves to-n-fro, side-2-side, I worried if we would repeat Titanic!!!!! RMM, u know, if there wasn't the Szechuan earthquake, we would have been to Kyushu!
For those of u who are interested in Star Cruise, we probably won't do it again. We have been to other cruises & we have lowered our expectation by far cos we didn't like bumping into mainland chinese who jumped queue or spoke loudly etc. In the end, that was not too bad (cos we were prepared), food was definitely not fine food, drinks were charged like sucking your blood up, plus 15% service charge & tax! Pool was small. Atmosphere was not as holiday-mood. Management could be better. BUT one thing great was the 3 shows at night. A must see & definitely made us drop-our-jaw!!! Afterall, not a bad idea for families with elderlies who want to experience a cruise without travelling too far to get on board. Let me know if any of u have further questions.
BS,
I'll try to give u a call tmw for the books. Look forward to meeting u in person!
Just back from Taiwan. Very relaxing a holiday. We've been to Taichung and Taipei. In particular, 清境 is a very pleasant place. The air there is so fresh. The children can chase after the sheep and pamper them. The Angus Beef is yummy too (唔 "so", 有鮮味) but the portion is not as big as in Hong Kong.
Have gone to 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan. We are so fortunate in Hong Kong that we do not have earthquakes. There is earthquake simulation and my kids fully realised how big the damage would be. This museum is highly recommended as it is so educational.
Went to 誠品 flagship store. So big. Spent the whole afternoon there, but could only finish 2 storeys out of 5. But just a few selected books have discount and still small discounts like 20% off. It's cheaper to buy via internet bookshops but they usually do not carry much stock.
I discovered that there is a 地下書店街 in 中山捷運站. The discount there may go up to 21% to 25% off for all books. Not much choices as 誠品. I found 三采漫畫 in one of the bookshops. Just sold at 250NTD @ before discount i.e. about 52 HKD@ after discount. But so heavy and not the whole series available. Can just buy a few back. Bluestar is right. The bookshops in Hong Kong have a fat margin by selling them at such a high price. If my memory still works, 三采漫畫 is selling at HKD90+ @ in Hong Kong.
So, my conclusion and recommendation is to shop via internet as much as possible before you embark for your trip to Taiwan and bring an empty suitcase with you. I regret I haven't done so before. :-( :-(
Have to return to work tomorrow. Really want to stay there for longer.
Taichung -
Howard Hotel, about NTD 4400 @day
The room is very large. 1 very large (king size) + 1 small bed.
QinJing 清境 -
歐鄉美邸, a homestay, about NTD 3300 @day
The room is for 4 person with a balcony and good view. Very clean, tidy and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Taipei -
四季飯店, in 中山站, just one MTR stop from 台北站. about NTD 4300 @ day. The room is not very spacious as compared with Howard. 1 large + 1 small bed. We chose this hotel because we have mistakenly thought that it is associated with the one in Hong Kong. Silly us!! Despite that, this hotel is still a clean and new one. I stayed in Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei 10 years ago. The impression was very good then. However, I heard from the other forum that it is getting old now. That's why I chose 四季 this time. But I could choose again, I would choose Howard la..
Moreover, it's really hard to find hotels in Taipei which offers 3-4 persons room.
