Cally,
If you don't have time to make too much stuff, just ask your husband to buy chicken, clean it, cut it into pieces, marinated with a little bit of rice wine, salt, soy sauce (not too much if you have c-section because it would affect the scar) and cornflour. Put the chicken on top of the rice inside the rice cooker. Eating chicken can also help you to recover. Of course, if you steam it with "wooden ears" and "golden needles", it is better because wooden ears help to clear up 惡露. Last time, my mother made some chinese herbal soup to help me clear up all those 惡露 (but I forgot how that soup called, you can go to Chinese herb soup and ask for that), I could manage to discharge some big blood clots. When you have time now, stir-fired some rice until it is brown in color, stored in a jar. After the baby born, don't drink cold water. Put the rice into a jar and add hot water in it. It helps you to recover. I drank only these in the first 1-2 month. When I need to touch water, I wore a pair of globes. Do believe our Chinese customs. Many of the old mothers told me that if I don't follow all these, my health would be much worse when I get older. Well, I did not take a bath or wash my hair until the 12th day. Even after 12th day, I did not take a shower everyday, every 2 days instead (my hubby complained that I smelt but I told him if you want a wife with good health or not, he shutted up
).
Nobody can you during the 1st month? I cannot imagine how it can work for me without the help of my mother. At least, she can talk to me and she has taught me quite a lot on how to take care my son last time. The stuff I learnt from the hospital did not work some times.
