What I feel very unfair for employers of foreign domestic helpers are that
1. Govt treat us as normal employers, so our employers enjoy 100% benefits, even better than local employees, a typical example is 100% medical coverage, they do not have to pay 1 cent. Though DHs need to pass a medical check before they report duty but it won't check all, right? One of my maid before was admitted to hospital and did operation. I almost became mad during that period. Any boss can tolerate their staff to take leave often to take care of their children (it is merely a personal problem, remember companies are not charity organsation, we cannot ask our employers to be considerate.)
2. No probation period, even they work one day, we have to pay various fees and air tickets.
3. We have to pay tax because we employ foreign domestic helpers, can our government find some HK citizens to help us take care of our children from the time we go to work until we back home?
4. We are the one to pay salary and benefits but have no say in the terms, is it fair to us?
5. Normal employers can include employees' expenses, e.g. salaries, insurance for tax deduction, but we can't. We even have to pay additional tax.
There are few interest increases for mortgage, this already increase my economic burden, I found the prices of food are increasing from time to time, but any of those inflation related to foreign domestic helpers?
6. There are some cases that when foreign DHs maltreat children, their penalty is quite light. Many cases, like stealing, because of no evidence or employers do not want to get trouble and waste time, just terminate their maid but also need to pay one-month-in-lieu of notice. Any employers want to take risk to give a month notice?
7 I just want somebody to take care of my children so that I can go out to work to support my family. I do not get any subsidy from govt. But employ foreign DHs just like being penalised by our govt.
8 Our govt imposed too much restriction on the foreign DHs policy. Why she did not learn those good thing from Singaporean govt?
