Good to hear that Amanda's recovered from her finger injury. I completely understood how u felt. My boy had finger injury at abt 13m. his fingernail fell off abt a week after the accidents, but thanks God that it grew back in abt a month.

Hv u decided to hire that nanny yet? would u prefer a live-in or not? $1400/mo is ok if she's good. would u prefer a live-in or not? mostly no one will pay for their health insurance if they pay cash. however, u can negotiate w/ her and deduct the insurance premium from the salary.

We've posted an ad on the Chinese newspaper for so many times since bb was abt 4m old. We had a live-in nanny almost a year back (while the economy is still not too good). At that time, most candidates asked for $1300/mo (5 or 6 days a week) for live-in. Abt 3 to 4 months back, most candidates asked for at least $1200 (some asked for more, up to $1500) for NON-live-in (5 days a week and mostly not willing to do housework). One was very caring but asked for $1200-$1300 NET amount after the FICA (social security tax). that meant i would hv to pay for the (7.65% X 2) tax for her portion and the employer portion. So, the gross amount might be abt $1500 but also need to pay accountant to take care of the payroll tax issues if u don't wanna waste time to do it yrself.

Sigh ... I might need to go thru the painful nanny/maid hunting process again when we're back from HK in May. Our part-time helper has decided to quit, cos her daughter-in-law is pregnant. So she wants to travel as much as possible w/ her husband before her grandkid is born.
Also, finding a good maid/nanny who can get along w/ 99 is not easy as she'll come back with us from HK.

Pls feel free to let me know if u hv any questions regarding nannies although i might not be able to ask each one of them.

i've also bought the maternity belt from Motherhood. I only used it occasionally. i guess i might be too lazy. however, i put it on when bb was abt 3-4m old while i had back pain. it seemed like it made my tummy a bit smaller. i didn't do it on purpose but it seemed it worked!

btw, u might wanna make up yr mind real quick if the nanny is a good one! otherwise, she might already hv started another job when u call her up.

also, for the experienced nannies or those who've come to US for long time, they don't like doing housework or even cooking.

I talked to the ped. about mini-matt, he told me that it's normal , the baby frequently awaken during teething .Poor mini-matt and me lor...One of empolyees works in the casino, she said her baby, 9-month-old,was even worse at that time.

打咗俾家姐問... 佢話我嗰條托腹帶喺"孕婦裝"(沙田新城市)到買, 不過佢話佢哋有好多分店.... 仲話其實好多買大肚衫嘅鋪頭都有得買, eg 荷花世界 (旺角新世紀 / 沙田)& 媽味世界...

我個條托腹帶前邊有啲似你post出嚟嘅圖1, 不過我睇唔到後邊lower back位, 所以唔係好肯定... 我嗰條帶中間(即托腹位係好闊, 可以包到個肚), 緊住兩邊就narrow好多, 好似條帶咁, 大概有2吋 & 條帶頭尾有魔術貼...當你將中間位度準喺你個肚臍下邊時, 左邊帶從後邊繞到右前腹貼好, 右邊帶從後邊繞到左前腹貼好... 所以lower back 位會成一個交叉... 好supportive o架!!

家姐話"孕婦裝"嗰度有2款, 1款係台灣貨, HK$150-180 (佢唔係好幾得exactly幾多$

) 另一款係日本貨, 要成HK$300幾蚊... 家姐買咗台灣嗰隻, 我帶咗覺得好舒服, 冇背脊痛, 唔刮肉&唔焗 (不過nillie講得啱, 你個肚大時係夏天所以可能會有焗嘅問題

)我仲問家姐日本貨會唔會好啲, & 唔焗身... 佢話呢個問題冇問到喎...你叫sister買嗰陣, 同啲姐姐講"嘩!香港夏天咁熱, 帶著咪好焗??"睇下佢哋有啲咩反應...記住望下係咩material 噃...

It's good the ped. confirmed Mini-Matt's okay. Natalie's been waking up in the middle of the night too. I'm not sure if it's her teething or the cold weather. For the past 2 nights, she woke once around 4am and after I give her some milk, she falls back asleep until 8:45. I'm so bad becuz I need at least 7 hrs of sleep to function...so I sleep with her until 8:45

I also hate the Akai commercial...it's the same people over and over again and it's so long. :tongue: :tongue:

my boy (23m) didn't really sleep thru the night til 1-yr-old due the night-time feedings. in the past few months, he woke up at least once in the middle of the night to ask for "milk milk". if we ignored him, he could cry for abt 1/2 hr. from before going to bed til waking up in the morning, he could drink > 20 oz of formula. maybe that's why he didn't eat much solid food during day time if he didn't like the food.

Nillie_Mami,

We've installed the child-proof cushions to the sharp corners of the tables, etc. since bb was very little (maybe ~5m since he was able to scoot/pretend crawling). his head was hit towards the sharp edge of the vertical long border of the cupboard, but it's not easy to find the matching child-proof cushion. (same for our glass door's sharp steel border. his head got hit twice.) sigh ... i realize it's hard to make the house 100% child-proof. mostly i just worried for the unseen accidents, cos i couldn't predict how serious it was.

i've bought little child-proof things for Hk, but i doubted if 99 will like it (esp the house was just newly remodelled). anyway, most likely the electric socket covers won't fit in HK.

i still a bit hesitated to go for this trip. per the HK news, it's the peak of flu there. per every 1000 cases in the private clinics, abt almost 80 cases are flu (~ 8%). does it mean it's really serious?
