Recently, my son has borrowed a few chapter books of Powerpuff girls from school. Strange?

Probably, he will read his sister's set of Princess Diaries later!?

Just curious. What kind of books did you read when you were in your junior secondary? Shakespeare type of thing? Poetry?

Thanks for the info.

Recently, Rachel is reading these dead famous in Chinese, actually I bought some and borrowed the remaining from the Library. She is very interested in their history, e.g. Helen Keller, Leonardo Da Vinci, Einstein, Washigton etc etc. I'm therefore looking for some in English

Kv likes detective stories recently. He has already gulped 50 books of 冒險小虎隊 (incl 超級版 and 超級成長版) and 28 MTH.

Hello!! Yes, really busy. I still work. I think nowadays it is 'safer' to have a job than not. I have moved to Admiralty instead of Wan Chai. I believe ladybird will have her first tooth soon. She always use her tongue to scrub the lower gum.

I have started to enrol her on some playgroup e.g. tutortixx, learningacadxmy...etc. I heard that it's competitive to get a placement event for playgroups!!

you have to act slowly. The underpant captain series are also cheaper ga. Many series set available at bookclub price. Do you still buy from dd or joyo? No cheap big6 sources nowadays.

No way.
I only remembered a few ja :
Animal Farm
Brave New World
Cry the Beloved Country (or maybe cry My Beloved Country; this one was vvvvv boring; actually textbook for Eng Lit)
A lot of Barbara Cartland books and Mills & Boon (publisher) books, cos I had 2 much older cousins who buy a lot of these so I took over all of these and read 7 to 10 books a day during summer hols, nothing better to do then.

I was in Science class in F4 and 5 so no Engl Lit.
Then in F6 I switched back to Arts and took Eng Lit.

I usually buy books from local bookstores like Popular/CP/3-luen. Sometimes place order from Taiwan.

If you find the book sets (from bookclub) that are good enough for Kv (now in P2), would you mind telling me and buying for me pls? W can come to your place at Admiralty to collect gar. :)

Wow, except Animal Farm, all are UFOs to me.

7-10 books a day?! Assume 10 hours a day available for reading, that means, 1-2 hour to read a book. Your reading speed is super amazing!!

My girl urges me to buy some popular novels for her, like Twilight, Memorykeeper's daughter, etc. I doubt if it's appropriate for her to read such novels at such early age. Moreover, it's impossible for me to read and censor such thick novels before passing on to her...

I had 24 hours a day ga mah !
But that was when there was no TV, so nothing else to entertain myself. Not like kids nowadays, too many attractions / distractions.

True that my reading speed picked up. When you have a lot of stock, and you want to finish all, ==> read through quickly. And the chapter books were of normal thickness, not the "novel"-thick ones.

If you let your girl read books like Twilight now, she may be confused by the time / space and fiction / reality. Must make sure she can distinguish first. No problem with her language-comprehension skills
, just that she won't be able to pull out of those type of Q in her mind easily.

I think he can recognise most of the words, and the reading speed is quite fast.

As he sticks to chinese readers now, his eng standard is deteriorating..... once he talked to our maid and said he wanted to eat "cha siu chou dan" (not bbq pork with fried eggs) !!
