for my experience - i hardly get the pre-approval from other banks (like TD and CIBC), as no credit history from them - they said unless u have a security deposit with them, otherwise, they need a creidt history check for at least 15 months before pre-approval will be granted. that's why i stick on to HSBC

Then I better ask my husband to check with HSBC here in hk first and see what they could do for us. I think I am lucky since I keep my hsbc a/c in toronto although I left for so many years, at least they still have my record.

I've been living in the Markham (Kennedy & Bur Oak) area for more than 6 years. It's a very nice neighbourhood... don't worry.
Regarding your daughter going to school... my son will be attending JK this coming Sept. Kids only go to kindergarten when they are 4. I believe there's 2 public schools (Castlemore PS or Stonebridge PS) in the area and 1 catholic school (All Saints Catholic). They all have good reputation and you can check out the reports from Fraser Institute for more details. Alternatively, a lot of parents here register their kids in Montessori school until they are old enough to enter Grade 1 in public school.
My husband is an IT guy (programmer). He has no microsoft certification (he hates Microsoft stuff to be exact ); however, he doesn't have any problems looking for jobs here. So don't worry too much. I'd suggest your husband post his resume on workopolis.com or monster.ca and recruiters do search candidates from these job boards! Hope this helps!
yes, I know Castlemore is a good PS, but seems it's not within the Kennedy/Buroak boundary? I am not sure, have to search first. I check on the mls website, there is not much listing around that area, really depends on luck.
Thanks aka414, will ask him to take a look of the websites u provided.
