Hi Adrian's Dad..

Currently I still use 50mm F1.4 and Sigma 17-135mm only.

I always think about those L lens ga lar.. but convenience is more important to me.. so they are on my wanted list, but low priority....

曾幾何時我都為枝80-200mm 2.8L心癢難耐，但係試用過之後真係覺得都幾笨重，所以最後就買了你提的其中兩枝，選用定焦可以算係質素保證，操作時亦感覺輕巧，特別係85mm細之餘仲比枝L鏡大級半光圈，用於影人真係好好...而200mm用於影小朋友可能未必大派用場，其一快門要求較高，其二有一定的最近對焦距離，會同主體較遠，操作亦冇85mm咁方便，加上平時影生活相最緊要係方便，唔駛下下淺景深，所以我之前提議28-135mm IS同85mm，枝zoom光圈係細D，不過中段快門要求唔太大兼且有IS防手震，而且個range較大，亦好適合生活相用，加枝人像鏡就影大頭，咁相信亦唔會太重，若果係追求L的話..當然唔同計法...........

好似我而家要帶住細路，年紀+體力-....減磅對我就更加重要......

28-135mm IS is quite light! The quality of 28-135mm is not bad... However, it's a bit dark while compare with 24-70mm. I cannot feel IS's benefit if I use this lens but I can feel "IS" if I'm using 70-200mm.

Yes, 70-200mm 2.8L 真係覺得都幾笨重! However, the quality is very good! It seems that it's better than 24-70mm or 28-70mm (only talking about quality of the pics)

Sometimes, I still like to bring 70-200mm... as my son is running so fast... If I take photos for him, I need to chase him and it seems that do an hour's exercise... If I use 70-200mm, I can stand at a point and take a relative better picture.

One of my friends is using 85mm and I'm told that it's quite good as well!

If you're going to buy 24-70mm f2.8L or 28-70mm f2.8L, I think you'll like it very much after compare with other LENs you have.

After I use 24-70mm, I do not use my 28-135mm any more...

How about your 70-200mm f4.0 L? My personal feeling is my 700-200mm IS is better than 24-70mm... If it's an outdoor activity, I prefer 70-200 even if's heavier...

Thanks for your pm.

i just got the 2nd hand 28-70 f/2.8L. It is overall 95% new except few dust in the lens which i don't really mind.

I don't really have chance to test it and the 70-200 f/4L yet. Maybe i will test them coming sat on my best friend's wedding. Hope it will be a nice and sunny day! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

As i mentioned, for me, the 28-70 more suitable than the 70-200 coz' i still not confortable to have my daughter running to far away from me. That's why i am so eager to get a 24/28-70.

Agree. So i think i will still use the 35mm f/2 most of time.

I'm also using 35mm f/2 in my 300D and i am quite satisfied with its performance except its AF speeding (without USM).

Maybe because i got used to use 50mm f/1.8 on my film camera, so the 35mm f/2 just make up for that on the 300D.

Yes, the wide lens still is a problem for my lens line up. Right now, i only got the 18-55mm kit lens to cover that. I am not sure whether i will get a prime lens or a zoom lens like 17-40 to cover that later. But probably i don't need to make the decision shortly coz' all my financial resources have been went for the 28-70 f/2.8L and 70-200 f/4L already.

Do you see any significant improvement after using "L" lens (such as 28-70 or 70-200).

BTW, is "IS" available in your 70-200mm f/4L?

FYI, I made a wrong decision to buy 16-35mm. I don't believe that I only use it for few times (less than 10 times) because I'd expect that I need a wide lens due to 1.6x issue. I think you already have 2 L lens covering 28-200mm So, it should be good enough.

No lar, i don't even have time to really test them yet. Besides, i think i also need significant improvement in my photography skill to best use these 2 "L" lens. :wink: :wink: :wink:

No, IS function is not available to the 70-200 f/4L (i think it only available on the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS). So i may only bring this lens out when it is a sunny day.

Oh, really, you think it is not wise to get the 16-35mm? At present, I seldom take 風景 photos and thus a wide lens will only be useful for me to take group photos for chichi's gathering. In such case, the 300D kit lens will make up for that. That's why the wide lens is not in my priority. I will focus on playing with the 28-70 and 70-200 at present.

I meet the photographor i told you before on last sun. One of my colleague hired him to take photos for her kids in kowloon park so i take the chance to meet with him (also his equipment).

You are right that he is using 1Ds mk II plus 70-200 f/2.8 IS. He is a nice guy but i don't really have time to chat with him in details. My impression is he is not really taking the photos for money, but rather for fun. He also brought along his wife to be his assistant to take care of the 反光板!

If you have time, i think it worth for you to ask that photographor out to take some photos for Adrian and you so that you don't need to be always 隱型 in Adrians' photos. Besides, you may also chat with him.
