Yes, I had HMO at that time, but I didn't use it because I chose their package instead. I ended up paying $15,000 for 1 IVF + 1 FET. If I had choosen to use my insurance, I only have to pay $9,000 out of pocket money for 1 IVF treatment. I just found out that my HMO insurance actually covered the FET. So the last 2 times that I had the FET, I didn't have to pay anything except for the co-payment. Stupid me!! I paid $6,000 more for nothing.

Anyways, my company is not providing HMO insurance next year, so I will be having PPO too. You have already gotten your new company insurance information? How come you know they are not coving the IUI/IVF? I also what to find out how much would my new insurance cover for an IVF treatment. I guess the worse comes worse, you can already buy the $15,000 package from FPNC.

The job market in the bay area is very competitive..... I was exhausted from all the networking and tons of interviews in the last couple months. I was so happy to get the job offer :>

My company provides two insurance plans which are United Healthy PPO and Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. I read the booklet for both plans and the fine print states that "Does not cover fertility treatment - IUI, IVF or embro transfer.....etc... but cover fertility drug". That's why I assume the insurance does not cover the IVF.

I asked PAMF, they charge $15,000 for one IVF and no guarantee if the treatment does not result in a live birth. I think it is very risky and that's why I want to do the IVF at FNPC or other clinic that has the guarantee program.

Honesty, I'm little hesitated to do the IVF because $15,000 is a big cost to me and I really need some time to think about it and plan for it. I'm thinking if I should try 1 to 2 more times on the IUI since it is $1000 per IUI......

The plan that I mentioned with FPNC also doesn't guarantee the treatment will result in a live birth except if you pay more.

What job field are you in? I am in accounting.

My company has a Flexible Benefit Program which enable staff to participate in the Health Care Reimbursement Account. However, I don't exactly know what this program can do for me..... ?? Is it just a tax saving program?

BTW, I work in the accounting industry too. What a coincidence!

It's a tax saving program. Flexible Spending is the pretax money which you contribute to the plan and will not be part of your income when you file your tax return. For example, if you are taxed at 25% on your federal income tax return; if you earn $1000, normally you will have to pay Federal tax $250. With this Flexible Benefit, you can use this $250 on the treatment instead of paying uncle Sam.

Really...you are working in accounting field too..

Sorry for my late response... I was on a long vacation over the holiday.

I didn't do the 3rd IUI because I would like to take a break for a while and get my mind off the whole fertility things. How about you? Did you do the IVF/FET one more time?

Just have a coworker who is planning to have IUI/IVF and would like to share a little bit. Check if your health insurance plan covers the treatment as well as the flexible spending plan. Some of them only cover certain types of treatments or certain %.

I'm too lazy to read the old posts again. The wife of one of my hubby's friend who is a nurse told me that Omega 3 fish oil would help inactive sperms. To quit smoking, coffee drinking and other ways to improve health condition helps a lot too.

Would you consider seeing Chinese doctor? I have seen a Chinese doctor when I had a sign of miscarriage for the 2nd pregnancy. This man is specialized on helping women to conceive and treating miscarriage. His store is at Chinatown of San Francisco. Depends on situation, some women may need to visit him for a long period of time and some only a few months. If you are interested, I can PM you his contact.

Thanks for the nice note. I was actually thinking of seeing a Chinese doctor because my body feel very bad after going through surgery for the Endo and two failed IUIs. I'm sick of western medicine especially the fertility drugs. Would you please PM me the doctor's info. Thanks a lot.

Which chinese doctor are you seeing now? I want to see a Chinese doctor to improve the health of my body before trying fertility treatment again in summer.

I'm planning to start taking chinese medicine and then try the IUI/IVF after July. I'm doing research on many different fertility clinics recently.

BTW, I'm in Audit and wonder if you are in audit or tax?

I'm still in the middle of the research and I will let you know about my thought on the different clinics. I have just moved to U.S. couple years ago. I'm actually studying very hard on the CPA exams now...... just passed one section last Dec and have three more sections to go in the next several months. Therefore, I don't want to do any fertility treatment till July because my last CPA exam is in July. Are you taking the CPA too ?
