well,my husband already travel between BJ and HK for over one year.
I just think 2 b is better than 1 b, they can play together la. Of course, they cannot spend much money than if i have 1 b only.
I've just spent 2 days this week to BJ for a meeting, and I also done some visits to 2 billingual kindergarten.
Only one of them is ok to me, but this is more like a local kindergartne with English teacher to host the class for half day. However, the half day is not all English since the teacher will only host the teaching activity (2 lessons X 30 mins per lesson), for the rest of snack or free-play, it's the PTG teachers and helpers,....well my analyse as belows:
school fee: RMB3,700 per month including misc (full day + 3 meal + 2 snack)
fairly good mix of kid = HK, singapore, korean, demark,....

Eng noT very very good unless u have English enviromenT home

Finally there's a momy community in Beijing. GREAT!! Before I moved to Beijing in Apr this year, I've already tried asking if there's any HK mom in Beijing but no one ... :-( I was so sad!!
I've already been here for more than 1/2 year, should be quite familiar here now. Regarding house searching, you can try using my company. hahah..yes, I'm working as part-time agent but am going to quit since it's hard to work as agent in beijing, tenants always wonder around with few agent comparing price (I'll do the same myself) as only the landlord pay the commission. I'm not promoting here since I'll not be there v. soon but just I feel my company is v. honest because we rely very much on referral that we need to be v. good service! If anyone interested, i can pm you the details.
Don't worry about meeting friends, there's a lot of foreigners here now, including a lot from HK, Singapore or Taiwan, especially if you've kid, you can easy meet other mom thru school activity.
Yes, the education cost here is v. high if choosing international school. Some even more expensive than in HK!

My situtation is similar to you. My baby is 9 wks old now and we will return to BJ for long stay on 12/25. I had consulted a number of doctor and they all saying that there is no evidence showing the negative impact for young baby taking aero. So, you've no worry about your babe lar.
For the medical, as far as I know, there are a lot of repetable medical group likes Beijing United Family Hospital & Clinics, Hong Kong International Medical Clinic, Beijing...etc. My husband & I had used the service of 中日友好 & 協和医院 foreighner department. Service are okay. Nurse/ Doctor can communicate in English and price is close to HK.
For the injection, I was told that Singaporean had bough the necessary 疫苗 from Singaore to BJ and have the local (good) clinic to perform the injection. You may consider of this approach. Also, HK nurse saying different location has different 疫苗 to prevent for local disease. You may not be able to get the same in BJ. Also, quality is one of my concerns.
Perhaps I can share more with you when I'm in BJ.
Any of you heard about baby having 水土"but"服? Although people in BJ only drinking Distilled/ mineral water, will baby have 水土"but"服? I'm thinking of to ship 1 liter of Watsons water from HK to BJ. Any though for sharing?
Myself & my son has been in BJ for almost 1 week. The avg tempature here is between -5 to 2 c. It's quit cold to me. Because most of the aero are landed in the center of BJ airport, you may need to take shuttle bus to arrive the terminal. Suggest to prepare sufficent outerwear for both kids and yourself upon aero is landed.
For hospital, my son tried one and one was recommended by my husband's colleauge.

both hospital has 24hrs emergency. As for the local one, you have to get used to the local culture.
I have already get a aiyi thur. an agency. Looks good. The agency fee is around RMB$580 (min)-800 (max). They guarentee for 1 mth. I was told by my aiyi that most people won't hire 河南 aiyi because they're more danger, in terms of culture and experience. However, there are no "a must". Things seems settle down now. Looks good. hahaha

Hi, I'd consulted a few doctors and all said that there is no evidence showing harmful for baby taking flight. I checked the internet, it's okay for baby taking aero after 2 weeks old. However, I do not want my son taking flight without 打針, we moved to BJ after he'd took the 1st injection.

Wow, So happy to see this topics and there are mommies living in Beijing. I moved there since last year April , it is already 1 year and lived in 華貿 before. I didn't work in BJ and hv two children , one is 2 yrs old , one is just 2 mths ( she was born in BJ ) ..... I want to make some friends here but no channels . If your baby born in HK and I suggest you better to have the first 6 mths injection as some injection from 3 mths - 6 mths is a second /third dose . The quality may be diff. from the one you used in HK .

Yes, I agreed. It is diff. to make friend even my elder daughter started the nursery this year, I seldom to meet the parents as most of the children are picked up by Aiyi.

definately I would feel boring of taking caring of baby everyday. it's even harsher than working OT. I can only going out on Sat & Sun, only when my husband is off duty. hahah, but it's happy to see baby smile at me....it's so sweet, right??? I think the problem is it's too cold here compared with HK. I do not feel comfortable for taking baby outside...My son was just recovered from 氣管炎.........

I'd went thru. some discussion thur. baby kingdom. As most of the milk bottle are made with PC (name of the plastic), it's posion if it's at high tempature. Some popular brand like avent, nuk, dr. brown are on the posion list. However, I think a lot of mummy were grown up likes me, being fed by plastic milk bottle and all of us are at good shape. It should be okay for baby using plastic milk bottle. You know, the information access here it's quite difficult.
