Hello All , sorry have been quite busy for the past several days.
pigpig, Yes my boy is currently attending the 幼兒班 at the plaza in the afternoon. I do agree that DMK is not bad at all but certainly the school fee is very expensive. I'm paying almost 2K a month now but when he turns 2, I will have to pay like 4K a month and will have additionals when he gets to kindergarten!! So I'm not sure what I should do, as I'm intending to send my boy to 高主教或聖保祿 for primary years so not sure if I should change him to one of the 幼稚園 in Tung Chung to cut down on the cost or what and on the other hand I also know聖保祿 have 幼兒園 as well and certainly would be easier to continue with the same school but school fee is only slightly cheaper and seems like we have to pay it all in one go at the beginning of the term! I wasn't brought up in Hong Kong so I am not too familiar with the HK education system. Would he be able to attend any of the two schools I suggested if he goes to 幼兒/幼稚園 in Tung Chung? Would you all have any suggestions or recommendations for me? Do I have others to choose from? Should I have a look at the 幼兒/幼稚園 in Tung Chung while they have open days this weekend?
Hello Wongwwcy/Pigpig,
Thank you for the restaurent info.
DB is bringing in more restaurents at the plaza, we'll have more choices now.
Sometimes, I will go to Tai O for shrimp paste fried rice. There are so many things to do around DB/Lantau now..
pigpig, Thank you for your info! You are quite right, happiness is the most important key for my boy at the moment especially at his age now! I did think about the school bus as well, may not be as safe, cause I was taken over once with very close encounter by one of those Tung Chung school buses. I was furious!! My son was on the golfcart with me!!
To be honest, we have only just bought a place in Joyful with 3 bedrooms so looks like we won't be moving in the near few years since my in-laws are living in here as well!! So after thinking very hard, I have decided to let him stay at DMK until he finishes K3 then I might have to take him to school starting from P1 to 高主教或聖保祿.
The cost is definitely a burden when it comes with 2! Giving the best and most enjoyable years to them to remember with should be the key here! However, I will think slightly different for my daughter's high school years.
I AM a full time mum and definitely would love to have breakfast with you! So Happy
When my new home is done up, you can come and visit me there with your girl! We have just gotten our key so it will be under renovation soon for a short period then we'll be moving in in late Nov/early Dec. Fingers cross!! We hope! I have so much in my mind about the renovation! Can't sleep :-( So much to do!!
But I should really try to sleep as we will be going to Park Island to visit a friend of my husband's with the kids tomorrow. Let me tell you all what it is like there tomorrow if you, wongwwcy and kylemama haven't been there yet!
I think I might stop by at the“快車”restaurant next time when I go there for curtains! Thanks pigpig!
BTW, would any of you be going away for holiday during the Christmas and New Year? I will be taking my kids to my home country, New Zealand! Looking forward to it so much!! I miss HOME!! HOME SWEET HOME!!
Hi Pigpig & all DB mums,
It's so convience to get to Tung Chung, so I would take the bus from Tung Chung to Tai O. It takes onlyabout 50 mins to get there. The best thing is when you come back, the bus stop is just about 10 foot steps to DB bus stop... so convenience.
The weather is so good, don't miss the chance to play around at our beautify community.
pigpig, I know what you mean by unable to stay seated in a vehicle or anywhere for that matter except when he is eating! My son is terrible at it, our arms have to be the human seat belt for him!! I didn't know that 聖保祿's primary school is not a coed school!! then I must find that out thoroughly! Just that the deputy principal is an old school mate of my husband's, must talk to him to sort that out!! BTW, I love 羊肉 so I will try that next time!
wongwwcy, of course you can bring your seven princesses with you to our new home, more than welcome la! I enjoy having guests coming to my home, even my ex-colleagues come all the time, at least once every two months or so as they all adore my son dearly. The other thing you mention about sleeping early and waking up early? oh I don't think it will be a problem either for them, even at their age now, my son goes to sleep around 7:30 to 8:30pm every night and waking up the next morning around 6-7am and my daughter has her hours move ahead by 1 hour from her brother, at least they sleep 10-11 hours straight. They both go to sleep slightly earlier than the majority of the kids in HK as I notice most of them sleep very late like 10-midnite!!
We are actually still getting quotations from contractors on the renovation job. But I have so much to do like shop around for the kitchen and bathroom accessories, lightings, new sofa and a small table to uplift the height of my cat's home so my son wouldn't bother him all the time, get rid of/sell the furnitures that were left behind by the ex-owner (I'm not very happy with them on this, making me clean up after them/what we don't need but which they said they were gonna take away with them, especially when the items are not small like a large desk, a wooden wardrobe and 2 large wired speakers by the ceiling!), redo the curtains, ensuring what needs to be done around the new home is not missed from the quotes and also have to ensure the furniture we take to our new home fits in and how they are to be placed! I would also need to start packing at the same time, especially with kids, things take more than 3 times as long to get them done!!! I'm already overwhelmed by the work load I have built up for myself along with meeting the needs of everyone in the household.
I haven't really got the time to go and explore that much on this Island, especially I moved here when I was pregnant and we decided to have kids. I suppose I will have to wait until they grow up a bit more to explore further.
We had a nice time today at Park Island. I must say some of their facilities are better than ours like their mgmt fee already includes the usage of their club house membership-such that a small extra amount to pay for the paid activities such as $10 to use the swimming pool each time, you can taste the better in Chinese food without going into the club house, cheaper in transportation fee with alot more to choose from and the condition of a newly purchased home is even better than Siena and Chianti-already had a sneak preview at the actual apartments. Although its has the good points I point out but it can't give me the atomosphere DB can offer me, besides Tung Chung is just a bus away for the same.
Hi MumofTwo,
To share my experience, pls don't rush for renovation. The contractor will not do a good job for you if they know you are in urgent to take back the house.
By the way, any DB Mums went to the Halloween walk in Headland? There were so many kids, but it''s only a few houses joined the party.
Yes I agree but it is them who gave me the time frame, I do have in mind an extra week for them in case they don't complete the job on time but I won't tell them that until much later. I will have to check on them daily! inspection!
However, I do feel better now cuz all the left behind furnitures are sold and the contractor will start their job on next Tuesday!!
Do any of the DB mums explore the DB Forum website? I have just used it to sell all of my goods! Terrific!!
I didn't go cuz my boy is still too young to enjoy such fun. So it must have been a slight disppointment?
