You studied the course through distance learning?
I'm still in HK. I've got the PR and planning to go to Brisbane/Mel later. May be I also need to look for some courses to kill time if I've moved to OZ. And the legal courses seems a good choice.
I'm an engineer and the job opportunity in Brisbane is higher now.
You just go to OZ for the "immigration jail" this time?
Will you send your kids to OZ later?
Can you share more about the disadvantages of kid to start studying in oz early?

Besides the problems you mentioned, I think it will be difficult for the kids to have the initiative to study Chinese if they go to oz so early.
May I ask you how do you compare Brisbane and Sydney? How about for kids studying? Is Brisbane too boring? For working, does Sydney have more opportunities than Brisbane in accounting field?

hi, saw your question and thought i can give you some information and ideas.
I have been living in Sydney since 1984 and virtually grew up as an 'Aussie'. In terms of schooling, there are lots of schools to choose from - selective schools, private or Public. There are many good schools and well known ones in Sydney area. Personally , I studied in a public school in Carlingford (west of sydney cbd) and still graduated with a bachelor and a masters degree. But in the current education trend, seems now private or selective schools are a better option to be in. Then of course you have to consider universities too, NSW region has the most famous universities eg UNSW , Sydney Uni , UTS and Macquarie Uni.
In terms of work , I can for sure say that accounting field is better in Sydney. You can visit any recruitment website and jobs are all around in Sydney/NSW region. My wife works in the accounting area and she assures that there is no shortage of accounting / accounting related jobs in Syndey.
Brisbane is a small city about 30kms from Gold Coast , which you may have heard that is a tourism area. And there aren't much going on there (apologies to those living in Brisbane). If you plan to live a semi-retired life then Brisbane is one of the places you can pick. And Yes i have been there myself and Brisbane is quite boring. If you are the restless type and like to go out a lot, shopping, dining etc , then dont pick Brisbane. Sydney, Melbourne or Perth is the way to go. If you like more info, I am happy to answer them (if I know the answers).

I think your family should also have the PR in one application with you. If you alone get the citizenship, and the PR status of your family members have expired later, would it be easy to reinstate their PR status by using your citizenship?

PR visas expires every 5 yrs. Even though if your PR has expired, if the rest of your family are Aus citizen then you get have PR reinstated on grounds of family ties. If you have fulfil the 2 in 5 yr criteria (ie lived in Aus for at least 2 yrs out of the last 5) then you don't need any family ties. You will be able to apply for a resident return visa (subclass 155)without showing any family ties.
