Agreed! I've the same feeling as you - 感覺個主導唔係自己度! Labour Dept. said minimum working hours for part-time local 家務助理 is 2 hours each time you ask her to come. Obviously, now is 家務助理 'choose' employer, now employer 'choose' 家務助理 because chinese new year is their peak season to earn money!!
Your house is 800呎要5個鐘 that means you'll have to pay your 家務助理 $300. I think the price is still okay if she is good, quick & clean. Some friends told me that some 家務助理 charge even higher for big cleaning before chinese new year. You know what, charge $1/feet. If your house is 800呎, charge you $800. It's true! Even you phone the labour dept, they'll tell you 家務助理 salary cost $85/hour + transportation fee + $30 for insurance.
I just think how come employers became 'water fish'??? If we don't mind to clean by ourselves then can save some money**** Labour dept. said part-time 家務助理 salary will return to normal ($50/hour) after chinese new year. I'll wait & see later! I can clean by myself & but someone to cook dinner.
唯有自己辛苦D，等過埋年, everything will return to normal. Labour Department said many 家務助理 will be available after CNY! We can try our luck to get a good one!
I've just finished cleaning all the windows, doors & gates in my house. Feel so fresh & good! Kitchen & bathroom are ok & big cleaning are not required as we've routine cleaning from time to time, will not wait until CNY... I just think, no 家務助理, then no troubles, but 自己辛苦D law..
