Every baby is different. My nephew did not really talk until he's 3 and now my sister cannot shut up his mouth.
My husband does the same thing. I sourced for a lot of names for both boy and girl last time. He only cared about the girl's name and picked one immediately. When the dr. told us that we would have a boy afterwards, he kept struggling on the name and kept changing his mind. He wanted to use Travis but I told him that my parents will not be able to pronoun this name. Then, we considered Jordan, Ryan, Simon, Nathan or Spencer. Finally, I need to confirm the name right after my son's bornt. 
He said that boy's name is so difficult to pick. Now, I told him that we should have a boy's name as a backup, he said that I have 100% rights to pick it.
