hello, i live in scarborough and will sometimes go to markham. i have two girls, 8 and 4 1/2. both of them speak cantonese at home and english at school. however, when they are playing with other kids, they will turn to "english channel" automatically. however, you are correct, they will gradually switch to speak more english than cantonese. both of them can't read chinese, only some simple words, such as car, people, field (kindergarten level). i am worrying about this too.

Thank you. It has been snowing since Friday, but much much smaller now. It is forecasted that it will stop later this afternoon, however, will follow by "cold wind" : -11C tonight. I prefer staying at home all day. Poor me, I am so afraid of coldness but have to bring the girls to Brownie meeting tonight.
How much snow does it have in Vancouver? Seems to have less snow than last year.

I did not go for shopping on boxing day. There were so many people. I prefer staying home. I stayed home for 25th and 26th, but went for a party at friend's home on 24th and returned at around 1:30 a.m. (x'mas day la). However, when I drove home during the night, I was scared. I went home from Ajax by Steeles, no street light at all for quite a distance. It was so dark, don't bother me next time la.
Yes it is cold today. I want to go home direct from work but can't.

i live in toronto for about 8 years, i have a baby son, he is one years old, i spend some time with him every day, but i feel time is limited because of him, i don't have time for myself, does anybody has same feeling?

for your information, the chinese that are free of charge, the minimum attending age is 4 (when the kids are in JK). for those that you need to pay monthly fee, there is no minimum. i sent my younger daughter to this type when she is around 3.
