Welcome to Melbourne! So you are now living in the City? be honest, if you renting through agent (esp Christmas n new year time)...you are not likely to have luck to rent within a week.....last year when I am trying to move.... I spent 2 months at hotel...

If your insurance is Ok for private as ur out pocket is only around 4000, it is up to your own preference to be in public or private. As I give birth in the royal woman (new building) I think they are good enough. but if you prefer to have a particular doctor to follow through out ur whole pregnancy, then go for private ~ but anyway, I think you need to be quick to book urself in for the maternity check as hopsitals are reli full...

Hi all Melbourne Mums,

Thanks for all your info, offers, help and greetings!

We just signed the lease yesterday. We will be moving in our new home some time next week. We also hire some basic furniture and will borrow some from our relatives. It should be ok before our stuff arrive. We had already arranged the gas, electricity and water connection for the house.

Can anyone give me some suggestion about phone line or internet connection? We don't have our computer yet, I am using my in law computer when visiting but even with the boardband, it is sooooooo slow!! I know Telestra is now offering some special package, like home line, boardband, Fox TV, and mobile phone all in one. Anyone is using it? Is it good?

I know you guys are now organizing the gathering in Jan. Hopefully, I will be able to join!!

You are so lucky to rent place so fast.. where about? em..talking in relate to internet,mobile n phone..i will not go after Telstra as they are the most expensive provider in the market ..unless u hv special needs lar...
for internet..though they called Broadband here..but at most it is on ADSL2+, which is still not as fast as those in HK using optical cables...n keep that in mind there is download limit on the internet here (which include temporary download, eg, loading photos in web sites, youtube etc) and the limit is count in both upload n download (point out to me out if there is an ISP that only counts on me with there is ISP counts 1 way).. so b4 deciding which ISP to use, u have think about ur internet habbit pattern...
For say, I download loads of movie, TV from internet....then I will choose those plan which when i exceed my limit, they only slow down my connection instead of charging me extra (which i believe telstra n optus both do the extra charge)
Currently, I am using iinet. I do satisified with their service.. price not too bad.. my plan is include VOIP(internet photo, free unlimited national landline called) and 100GB limit per month on ADSL2+ with only $99.9 a month.... you could have a look on their page :www.iinet.com.au

We moved into one of the new estate in Doreen. Yup, the country side, my hubby likes it and most of our relatives are living out this way. And it is only five minutes by car to the school which my daugther is going. We only signed one year lease. We are looking to buy very soon. Hopefully, we can move a little bit closer..... to everything! I have checked out the iinet already. One of our relatives is using it and she said it is quite good but only in the areas near CBD. BTW, she doesn't think iinet will have coverage in Doreen. Anyway, thank you very much for your kind info. Sometime this week or next, we may go to have a play on St. Killda Beach. Is there any chance to bump into you nei?

Thanks for calling the other day. I had a very nice chat with you but I still haven't done anything you recommended. Probably after this week, we need to wait until everything re-opens after xmas. Actually, I went to Boxhill today and had lunch there too. So crowded!!

Dear All,

Has the date of the Lunch Buffet confirmed yet? I just
returned from my trip to Tasmania. I often throw these
few days, especially when feeling hungry and sour in
the stomach. Any one can give me some suggestion?
By the way, concerning the Lunch Buffet, is there any
hot dishes there? As I can't eat raw food (though I love
oyster and sashimi a lot!!)
